KontrolFreek Call of Duty: WWII Thumbsticks for Xbox One Review

Call of Duty. Three words that usher up multiple opinions and can split a community. But they are also three words that can bring gamers together in a way nothing else can – for some quality multiplayer based shooting action.

If you fall into the latter camp and enjoy Call of Duty for what it is – a damn good story based solo campaign and an experience which brings class-leading multiplayer options – then you may well wish to be given the chance to get one up on the competition.

The KontrolFreek Call of Duty: WWII thumbsticks for Xbox One and PS4 allow for just that. But you will still need to bring some shooting skills to the table as well.

Standing tall and proud, attaching to your controller’s thumbsticks with the now standard KF three-pronged grip, the striking crimson and black Call of Duty: WWII stick add-ons are pretty much guaranteed to give you an advantage on the battlefield. Created in conjunction with both Activision and Sledgehammer Games, the top of these sticks features the iconic Infantry Division emblem, with a concaved surface that brings additional grip beyond belief.

In fact, in all my years of using KontrolFreek products, and having gone hands on with tons of different variations, the feel to the touch of these WWII themed products is right up there with the very best of them. Yes, I’m a big fan of the concave design that KontrolFreek have utilised on many an occasion – and that is most definitely the case here – but the soft squidgy feel, the slight lip on the edge of the sticks and the overall size is near on perfect for any gamer looking to enhance their game.

You’ll need fairly large hands though, and it must be said that if you work your way through life with small hands, you may well find that the reach needed to hit these high 12.2mm extensions is a bit too tough for use on a daily basis. On a personal level I’d have loved to have seen them come in more in line with some of the mid-height products, with something around the 8.6mm height my preferred option. But even with the increase in height, these are still great to use. If you can get away with them, then the overall feel and touch is second to none.

They are super grippy too, with a combination of the concave design and soft, rather squidgy face and sides never letting your thumbs slip, even giving enough grip right on the edges to ensure that the hottest sweatiest sessions are a breeze. It’s a rather brilliant combo too, and ensures that the Call of Duty: WWII sticks from KontrolFreek are more than worthy of a look.

With the high rise extensions bringing a larger range of motion, control, accuracy and precision than normal, if you’ve found yourself struggling out on the battlefield and need a bit of a helping hand, then these are a more than decent addition – especially if you’re a massive Call of Duty fan and adore that Infantry Division emblem.

To increase that draw, KontrolFreek have ensured that both WWII veterans and newbies alike will struggle to give them a miss as they’ve also included a code for the exclusive Infantry Division Calling Card in game. If that’s not a seller, then I don’t know what is, but remember, even if you don’t like Call of Duty: WWII, this will still bring you an advantage in any other shooter – you know, those shooters like Destiny 2, Titanfall 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 1.

Yes, even Battlefield 1. Although hitting the Battlefield warzone with a pair of Call of Duty sticks is possibly just wrong!
