Loot Gaming – June 2017 Unboxed

-

Crash! Bang! Wallop!

Those are the sounds after an opposing racer cuts in front of me in Forza Horizon 3, but they had it coming. That’s not why we’re here today though, because I found a Loot Gaming crate inside the wreckage – probably belonging to the poor soul who thought they could overtake me without consequence. I decided I’m going to let you know whether the ‘Road Rage’ theme is utterly smashing or has all the excitement of a Sunday drive.

Well, stretching the idea of the theme to the barest of limits is a tee based on Destiny. To be fair, it’s a lovely grey tee featuring white, red, black and green stripes on your left and a hexagonal Sparrow Racing League logo over the top of it. It’s a bit like a football top in many ways and I think that’s what makes me adore it – being the massive footy fan I am. There’s nothing overly complicated about the design and is best described as simple but very effective.

Then comes an item suitable for real raging drivers; a plush ball in the shape and style of that which you bash in to the goals on Rocket League. Although the ball doesn’t bounce like the real thing, there’s no doubt it looks the part. Size-wise it’ll be a good fill for an average pair of hands and will be ideal to squeeze, throw, or hit, to reduce those stress levels; especially when a teammate lets in a trickling shot during overtime because they’re too busy reaching for a drink.

When steam is emanating from those ears of yours, you may need to literally cool off with the help of an ice cream. No, there isn’t a tub of it inside the crate, but should you pick one up, then the next item will set you apart – an ice cream scoop. The ‘I Scream’ scooper comes directly from the Sweet Tooth vehicle driven by Twisted Metal’s insane clown, Needles Kane. His face is even moulded into the handle, which is extra creepy in the best kind of way.

Last up is a real show off item to leave in the car whenever you aren’t there, telling the whole world that you love Mario Kart. There’s nothing worse than coming back to a boiling hot car when the sun is out, however, with this Mario Kart 8 themed sun shade, all your worries are gone. It features the iconic plumber, his brother Luigi, and long-time nemesis Bowser. Better yet, you can fold it up real small into a tiny wheel shaped bag!

Of course, there’s also a Loot Pin with a wheel design upon it and they’ve even incorporated some PVC for it to feel like the real thing. Overall though, I think it’s the sheer variety of items in the ‘Road Rage’ crate that wins me over, as opposed to the franchises. The baffling inclusion of Destiny turned out to be a glorious tee that I’d be proud to wear, mainly due to the subtlety.

Make sure you join us next time to celebrate being a Champion, which is set to bring items from Fallout, League of Legends, Battletoads and Brütal Legend.

Have you already signed up to a Loot Gaming subscription, and if so, were you happy with everything included in ‘Road Rage’? If you still haven’t taken the plunge, what will entice you to finally get involved and become a champion for the next instalment of the subscription service?
