Marvel’s Avengers has had a bit of a weird old ride. The initial announcement was met with huge excitement, with gamers and Marvel fans across the globe readying themselves to assemble as one in the greatest super hero tale ever. But then things took a dive as gameplay emerged, and a Beta failed to impress. That wasn’t stopping Marvel’s Avengers though and upon release in September 2020, we were left to either love what was being delivered with full release, or hate it; there seemed to be no middle ground. Now though it’s time for the Avengers to step up to the plate once more, bringing with them next generation goodies as Marvel’s Avengers makes a full launch on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 – oh, and they are bringing Hawkeye with em!

Available right now with full next-gen optimisation in play, Marvel’s Avengers finds itself a home on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 dropping in higher framerates and enhanced visuals over the previous release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

As you will not be shocked to here, that will mean we start moving into 4K visuals on Xbox Series X and PS5, with 1440p action saved for our beloved Xbox Series S. With loading times cut dramatically, and the utilisation of the power of these newer machines helping out the draw distances, improvement of heroics and armour destruction and more, finally the Marvel’s Avengers should be able to shine.

Better still is the fact that if you’re playing across gens, you’ll find your profile and save games working across both old and next gen. Cross-play across generations is also sorted.

So that’s the base game covered, and you can be sure it’ll attempt to deliver a pretty damn solid single player campaign whilst the Avengers Initiative missions will also cater for up to 4-players. But there’s more and today also sees the introduction of Hawkeye. The second new playable Super Hero, Clint Barton’s Hawkeye  is an archer with the finest precision. And you’ll need to use that two as Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect comes along for the ride – at no extra cost to those owning the core game on all platforms.

This new Operation also adds in a new villain – Maestro.

As always we’ll look to get some new thoughts surrounding the arrival of Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox Series X|S to you in the days ahead. If you’re looking to move up in the world though you’ll find this next generation option available in the Xbox Store as either a Standard or Deluxe Edition. It’s on PS5 too.
