When we reviewed CATAN – Console Edition back in the early months of 2023, we suspected that paid DLC would be on the horizon. That was the case too with the launch of the Championship Maps DLC a couple of weeks later. And it’s the case again today with the arrival of some Helpers content, a Season Pass AND a Super Deluxe version of the game.
Are we now looking at the most well-rounded version of CATAN – Console Edition available on Xbox and PlayStation? We probably are, but that’s not to say that things won’t change again, and in fact, further DLC packs are on the horizon for the game.
Do you need some CATAN Helpers?
Today though it’s all about three things. There’s the arrival of The Helpers pack, a drop of a Season Pass, and the chance to bring everything together in CATAN – Console Edition: Super Deluxe.
We’ll start with The Helpers. Available today for those with a CATAN – Console Edition base game in their library, The Helpers expansion brings some all-new rules and nuances to the game. A like-for-like recreation of the physical expansion, you’ll find some twelve new characters included here. They are the Helpers and each bring their own unique skills to the table.
Utilise them for all they are worth and you should find a bit of an advantage in CATAN – Console Edition, as fledgling communities switch up to the most vibrant of cities.

A CATAN – Console Edition Season Pass can be yours
You’ll also find it included in the new CATAN – Console Edition Season Pass. Priced at £24.99/$29.99/€29.99 this gives immediate access to The Helpers, plus future access to some further packs – Reap & Sow in the Fall, the Winter drop of Ice & Snow and a Spring release of Bloom & Grow. But that’s not all and should you have not yet enjoyed what CATAN – Console Edition has to offer, then you may well be best off checking out the new CATAN – Console Edition: Super Deluxe edition for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
This comes at a price of £24.99/$29.99/€29.99 and strangely doesn’t include that new Season Pass. But it does give full access to the base game of CATAN, The Helpers expansion and the previous Championship Maps DLC. It’s probably your best option if you’re looking to go all-in with CATAN on Xbox and PlayStation.
The Xbox Store will deliver the goods no matter how much you are willing to spend. You’ll then be able to play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store will do similar for those on PS4 and PS5.
