When Dean Hall jumped on stage to announce that DayZ was being developed for console during Gamescom 2014 many of us were left feeling excited for the day that we’d be battling the zombie survival adventure with controller in hand. If you’ve been waiting patiently for the past five years, then today you can finally rekindle that excitement once more as DayZ is now out of preview and available in all it’s full 1.0 updated glory on Xbox One.
If you’re one of the five people yet to hear of DayZ, then let me fill you in. The game is an open-world survival sandbox adventure which places the player within the confines of fictional post-Soviet Republic of Chernarus, a land that has been ravaged by a mysterious plague that has turned the majority of its population into violent infected zombies.
As one of few survivors left in the world, you must be on the hunt for the last dribs and drabs of sustenance left to survive. That means hunting for food, water, weapons and medicine, whilst killing or avoiding the many threats to your survival along the way. To do this you can band up with other survivors, or go it alone and avoid everyone, but with 230 square kilometres of vast open land to explore, it could be a cold lonely venture for those left unguarded.
If you fancy jumping in on the popular open-world zombie adventure, then you can do so now on Xbox One, for the price of £41.74, and with the Game Preview days left behind, expect a fully stable experience that mirrors that of PC
