It’s the biggest gaming event in the UK, and from 2019 EGX will be returning home – back to London!
It’s been a few years since UK based gamers have had the opportunity to embrace the EGX goodness in the capital city, but from EGX 2019 we’ll be seeing the premier games show moving back to ExCel London, taking place between the 17th-20th October 2019.
After spending the last few years at the NEC in Birmingham, the team behind the success of EGX have listened to fans and will be holding the event in London.
Promising to be the best show yet, EGX 2019 – sponsored by Virgin Media – will play host to all the popular attractions that have consistently brought gamers flocking, such as early hands-on with some of the world’s biggest blockbuster games, Esports Tournaments, Tabletop and Retro game zones, Cosplay Competitions and a huge collection of Indie Games – all under one roof.
There will also be a number of fan events such as Meet-and-Greets and Developer Talks, as EGX 2019 expands its growing career fair and trade offering, to cement its importance to the UK games industry.
David Lilley, Event Director for Gamer Network – the event’s organiser – said: “We are thrilled to be bringing EGX home. Moving back to London means we can grow all elements of the show and add new content and features that we know our fans desire, making this an unmissable outing for gamers and the UK games industry.”
This may come as a blow to the gaming community in the Midlands, but in recognition of the importance of those in Birmingham, Solihull and surrounding areas, Gamer Network are working to provide gamers from this region who attended EGX this year a transportation solution to and from London for EGX 2019 – if anything, this will work as a thank you for their support of the show, and for helping it grow over the last 4 years during its time outside of the capital.
Furthermore, a time-limited discount for EGX 2019 tickets will also be offered to those fans when they go on sale.
It’s not just about London though and whilst the main news is that of EGX UK returning home, Gamer Network and their parent company ReedPOP are continuing to bring great gaming content to gamers in the region with MCM Birmingham Comic Con events. They’ll also be seeing YouTube channels Outside Xbox and Outside Xtra bringing their hugely successful live Dungeons & Dragons show, Oxventure to the MCM Birmingham Comic Com show running 23-24th March 2019.
You can also add in the fact that Gamer Network have also confirmed 2019 dates for EGX Berlin, with the show taking place at Station Berlin on 1st – 3rd November 2019.
Does the move back to London mean you’ll be attending EGX 2019? Are you Birmingham based and gutted by the move? Let us know in the comments below.
