Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 18th October 2016

If you were here seven days ago then you’d have seen us waxing lyrical about the decent discounts available in the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale. But that was a whole week ago and now there’s a new batch of Deals With Gold games to get excited about. But what are the best and worst deals on offer between the 18th-24th October 2016?

If we’re honest, this week is a bit of a poor week for Xbox 360 gamers; unless of course they are 360 gamers who love Fallout 3 or Lara Croft. The best discounts are definitely located over on the Xbox One side of the border but even then there isn’t an awful lot that jumps out screaming ‘buy me, buy me’. You should however look at the following…

GrabSuper Party Sports: Football – 50% off – £2.00 – Xbox One

You may have to bear with me here as I try and sell the reasons for buying Super Party Sports: Football, a game that is quite obviously more at home on the mobile scene.

But whilst that may be the case, the fact of the matter is that SPS: Football is actually a rather enjoyable little playthrough; one that brings some cleverly designed stages and requires some fairly in depth tactical planning. It obviously looks all cutesy and won’t appeal to all (especially those who get frustrated easily), but for just £2.00, you really should think about picking it up.

You won’t find something that will keep you going back for months on end, but you should definitely end up taking a shine to what Handy Games have produced.

TempterRocket League – 25% off – £11.99 – Xbox One

It’s not dirt cheap, but Rocket League doesn’t yet need to be dirt cheap to warrant a purchase.

You see, it is in fact one of the best games you can play today on Xbox One and whilst the whole experience is good as a lone player, Rocket League is unbelievably great when you team up with friends from around the world.

Granted, many gamers will have already played it, and the small 25% price cut doesn’t really do much to tempt in those who haven’t yet got involved, but should you be sitting on that hard fence post, and just need a little kick in order to fall the right side, then now is the time for you to be getting involved.

LeaveF1 2016 – 35% off – £35.74 – Xbox One

f1 2

Yep, F1 2016 may be the best F1 title for a number of years, and it may be right up there with the very best racers on Xbox One, but we’re telling you to leave it alone this week. The reason? Well, the discount in place just isn’t big enough to really warrant a place in the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale.

See, we look forward to the sale because it brings us big discounts and super low prices; two things which aren’t afforded to F1 in this case.

It is however a very good game, and both fans of F1, or gamers who like a bit of racing action, should most definitely look to pick it up…but only when it’s a little bit cheaper. If we’re being honest, as the F1 season comes to a close, we would fully expect to see the 2016 variant be hit with at least a 50% price cut sooner rather than later.

…and that’s when you should be getting involved.

Leave – Grand Prix Rock ‘N Racing – 50% off – £3.20 – Xbox One

For everything I have said above about F1 2016, you can completely ignore as reasons to leave Grand Prix Rock ‘N Racing on Xbox One.

It’s not good, it’s not cutting edge and it isn’t worth a playthrough because you’ll get nothing more than poor visuals, terrible sound, dodgy AI and some of the most boring racing known to man. Yes, Grand Prix Rock N Racing isn’t even worth £3.20. Just believe us on this one, save yourself the money and spend it on beer instead!

That’s your lot for this week and unfortunately there isn’t too much to get excited about. If you like the look of our purchasing choice then you should also be taking a visit to CDKeys and grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit too. It’s the smart thing to do!

As always, don’t forget to let us know what you are tempted by. If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale right here.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
