This week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale is in full swing and brings a decent number of discounts for all Xbox One and Xbox 360 gamers. But which are the best…and which are the worst offers in place between 19th-25th Jan 2016? Let us tell you.
After a poor week last time round, the next seven days at least have a couple of offers you should be grabbing with both hands. That said, yet again, a number of titles stand out as being overly priced with too little discount applied for anyone serious about saving cash.
Grab – Roundabout – 50% off – £6.00 – Xbox One – Read our review
We make no bones about it…Roundabout is great fun!
Set out in a 1970’s B-movie style, you get the chance to grab the wheel and play out proceedings as Georgio Manos, the world’s first, and quite possibly only, revolving limousine driver. An open world driver in which you need to help transport a number of clients from point A to point B as safely as possible, Roundabout gives plenty of chance to explore your surroundings, all whilst subjecting your eyes and ears to a huge amount of humour.
It may all be over a little too quickly, especially if you only focus on the missions, but with a 50% discount, now is the time to get involved.
Grab – Mega Coin Squad – 50% off – £6.00 – Read our review
If you’re a bit of a loner and need something fun to fight your way through, Mega Coin Squad on Xbox One is just that. With 50% off, there should be no reason why you are holding back
Whilst it would have been great to see some multiplayer modes included, what is in place with Mega Coin Squad is a great single player game full of fast-paced action, some superbly well created gameplay and a huge amount of replayability.
It’s basically a combination of Mario and Sonic…all on Xbox One!
Leave – Pure Hold’em – 33% off – £10.71 – Xbox One – Read our review
We are big fans of the stuff VooFoo Studios throw out, but Pure Hold’Em just doesn’t see a big enough price cut for anyone to get too excited about. Whilst Pure Pool is undeniably a must have title, the Hold’Em variation is not so much of a big deal.
Whilst the single player experience is solid, much of the fun that is brought to the table is lost with a number of multiplayer rooms that are severely lacking players. Now, that isn’t the fault of the game, but without any fish to fry, poker becomes boring real quick. The 33% off just doesn’t feel like a big enough cut to grab the casual player and help fill those rooms either.
Leave – Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed – 33% off – £16.74 – Xbox 360
If you’re after a fun Xbox 360 arcade racer with a twist, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed is quite possibly one of your best bets. But with only 33% off, it’s pretty difficult to recommend you go out and buy it.
The £16.74 stands out head and shoulders above anything else found in this weeks Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale, and we’d much prefer to spend the equivalent money on two or possibly three other games instead.
Sorry Sonic, but you need to come back and try again…with a bigger discount next time!
