2 OG Xbox titles hit Xbox Game Pass

Long before Series X was a glimmer of hope, way before Xbox One combined gaming with media and even prior to the Xbox 360 era taking charge of the gaming scene, the original Xbox drew in many. Not only was it Microsoft’s first proper attempt at controlling the gaming circuit, but it was a console that delivered gaming experiences like no other. Today though, two of those original Xbox title make a move into Xbox Game Pass, giving gamers the chance to play games which were cutting edge two decades ago.

Arriving on Xbox Game Pass for both Cloud and Console gaming, BLiNX: The Time Sweeper and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge are two Xbox exclusive titles that first released way back in 2002 and 2003 respectively. But now you can play them on your modern day consoles via Backwards Compatibility or though your phone, making the most of the likes of the GAMESIR X2 Controller or Razer Kishi.

These 2 OG Xbox games make waves on Game Pass as the scheme goes through one of its best months yet. With Microsoft Flight Simulator due to arrive real soon, and a whole plethora of titles having dropped into the scheme in recent weeks, if you’re a subscriber to the whole Game Pass ethic, you’re in luck with tons of gaming opportunities.

With the addition of BLiNX and Crimson Skies though, gamers may well be split. There will obviously be some who welcome the arrival of two OG Xbox games, but in the same vein there will be many who turn their nose up at the thought of playing a couple of games from way back when – gaming has moved on massively in 20 years and you’ll discover that by firing up these titles.

If you do decide to give them a shot though, what will you discover?

Well, BLiNX: The Time Sweeper is a proper old-school action game, one in which you take charge of BLiNX and gain the ability to control time. When it first released it was a gaming experience that was pretty much only made possible due to the power of the OG Xbox as you joined this anthropomorphic cat as they went vacuuming up foes.

It was pretty well received too with some more than acceptable reviews rolling in. Whether that same game is of use to the gaming fraternity now, will all depend on the individual gamer, but if you want to relive the classic, or never get the chance to go hands-on with BLINX back in the day, the move into Xbox Game Pass is one that should be found appealing.

Equally appealing is the arrival of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. This first launched in 2003 working more of an arcade style flight combat game as opposed to that of a simulator. Again, very well received, it’s no real surprise to see Crimson Skies soaring onto Game Pass, particularly as aircraft based games are currently gaming loves.

If you’re in that camp, Crimson Skies will be able to combine some thrilling aerial combat with the style of a Hollywood move as gunplay and intrigue come to the fore. of course, visually it can’t stack up against more modern titles, but seen as something of a clut classic does mean it should be played sooner rather than later.

With Xbox Game Pass powering forward without a care, it’s great that Xbox gamers can now find two OG classics playable through the scheme. Let us know which of BLINX and Crimson Skies you delve into first.

BLiNX Game Description:

Blinx: The Time Sweeper is a fast-paced action game featuring a cool, clever new character in wild, warped worlds. The ability to control the flow of time provides a totally new 4-dimensional gaming experience only possible on Xbox.

Crimson Skies Game Description:

Crimson Skies®: High Road to Revenge™ combines thrilling aerial combat with the swashbuckling style of a Hollywood action-adventure movie. Set in an alternate 1930s world of gunship diplomacy and sinister intrigue, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge lets you pilot powerful aircraft against nefarious air pirates and behemoth war zeppelins.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
