When you’ve got the likes of Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture under your belt, you probably know a thing or two about games. The latest from The Chinese Room – Little Orpheus – looks to continue their trend of brilliance.

We’re massively excited for the launch of Little Orpheus on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC (through the Steam and Epic stores) and even though it was delayed from its original early 2022 launch, we loved the look of it so much that we included it in our Up Next article for March 2022, detailing it as one of the most exciting games to release on the console in that month.

It’s priced at £9.99 and sees the game breaking out of the Apple Arcade, where it’s picked up a ton of acclaim. This time around though it’s all been rebuilt, remastered and perfect for the big screen. What this means is that you’re be finding the inclusion of hi-res textures, a few new moves, additional animations and the usual enhancements in terms of the graphics and effects.

Oh, and with launch on PC and console, Little Orpheus includes a bonus ninth episode.

But for all the good, what actually is this? Well, it’s super colourful for one, but from there it promises to deliver you an adventure game that has been inspired by some of the most classic of movies – think Flash Gordon, Sinbad and more.

This plays out through a number of biomes too – lost civilisations, kingdoms under the sea and through the most dense of jungles. There’s a ton of gaming ideas running around in Little Orpheus, all complemented by some of the most brilliant of visuals, acting and audio scores.

Our full review of Little Orpheus and how it plays on Xbox is live so make sure you give it a read. There’s a chance you may just think that this is one of the finest games of the year to date.

“We’re excited to bring Little Orpheus to more people than ever,” said James Schall, Director of Publishing at Secret Mode. “Launching Little Orpheus on PC and consoles with a host of new features gives us the opportunity to introduce our beloved (and often hapless) explorer to adventure game veterans and brand-new players alike. We can’t wait for fans to suit-up and join us on this once in a lifetime journey.”

If you’re immediately sold, get yourself over to the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store or those of your favourite PC download service.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
