A building full of cats – quite literally

Welcome to A Building Full of Cats on Xbox, a hidden object game where you have to pet all the cats in a building.

Released onto Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in July 2022, the game has collected very positive reviews. A Building Full of Cats is now available on Xbox One and Xbox X|S, with a PlayStation release tomorrow.

Developed by cats

A Building Full of Cats is developed and published by Devcats, the first game development studio totally run by cats, who unsurprisingly are big on cat themed games, another one of theirs being Sudocats. It comes to Xbox with hopes of gettings its claws dug right in.

Pet all the cats

The building in question in A Building Full of Cats on Xbox has 5+ floors to explore with hundreds of cats to find. You enter each room, which are rendered in line art drawings, each with a single coloured background. Being a cat-sitter can get pretty tricky. Some of the cats you are looking after are outgoing, but others are quite skittish.

Your job is to search for all the cats, making sure none is left behind. The cats are all there but some are more difficult to find than others – you might have to move a few objects out of the way or open cupboards and drawers to find some of the shyest cats.

On clicking, or ‘petting’ a cat, it will get filled in with a colour to show that that it has been found. You are told how many cats you need to find on a counter, which will go down as you find each of your feline friends.
