As if the prospect of finally being able to play through the remastered trilogy on Xbox come 29th June was not enough, the team at Vicarious Visions have announced there will be a brand spanking new level to play in the Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped section of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
Titled ‘Future Tense’, the level takes the assets from the Future level designs of the third Crash game, and adds an extra layer of difficulty to them that will be having Crash and Coco ascend a deadly skyscraper whilst dodging rockets and lasers and destroying robots. Taking its inspiration from another unreleased level in the original Crash – Waterfall – and with the inclusion of a Death Route, this is a stage that will challenge even the most seasoned Crash players.
“Adding a new level to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was something we always wanted to do, and introducing Future Tense allows us to give all Crash players something new to play just in time for the multi-platform release,” said Jennifer Oneal, Studio Head at Vicarious Visions.
“We hope Future Tense will allow players to re-experience that feeling from the good ‘ol days when they first cracked open a Crash Bandicoot game and had to figure out how to get past a brand-new challenge, or find that one last crate,” added Future Tense level designers Ben Dorsey and Stephen Ivanauskas. “And frankly, Crash Bandicoot levels are fun to make!”
In addition to the new level, fans will also receive Stormy Ascent – originally released for the Playstation 4 at the end of 2017 – for free. This was originally cut from the first Crash Bandicoot game when it was released back in 1996 for being too difficult. When it was released for the N. Sane Trilogy this proved to be the case, so if the new Future Tense level is anything like Stormy Ascent, expect an extremely challenging level.
The new level is set to release on the same day as the game – 29th June – and will be accessible at any time just by visiting the Crash Bandicoot 3 hub world.
