The Two Colonels brings first new story arc to Metro Exodus

Thought you were done with Metro Exodus? Think again as today Deep Silver and 4A Games have dropped The Two Colonels into action.

Available from today on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, either as part of the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass or available as an individual purchase, The Two Colonels follows the journey and experiences of Colonel Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk; a life which Colonel Miller retraces a year later.

If you have access to Metro Exodus – and you should have as it is part of the brilliant Xbox Game Pass scheme – but have yet to complete the main campaign, then you may well wish to look away now, for the following contains SPOILERS.

Just below the surface, under the dead city of Novosibirsk, Khlebnikov makes his way home to his son, Kirill, for New Year’s Eve. But all is not well with the people here: the slime is further consuming the tunnels, mutant attacks appear to be on the rise and the precious ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation poisoning is running low. In order to secure the survival of any of the people, those in charge may need to take drastic measures…

Deep Silver and 4A Games promise that The Two Colonels will continue along the lines of the same classic Metro gameplay, as we get the chance to explore the claustrophobic environments of Novosibirsk, with all the hair-raising tension previously witnessed.

It should be taken in too, as this latest story arc features a brand new weapon to fight the slime and worms of the tunnels – the deadly flamethrower. Like the Tikhar it needs to be pumped up to maintain its power, but once ready to roll, it can really light up a room. Don’t believe it? You can see it in action in the brand new trailer which celebrates the launch of The Two Colonels down below.

If you have yet to play Metro Exodus then you’re missing a bit of a stunner. Make sure you take in our full review of the game on Xbox One and then head to the Xbox Store (or your own favoured digital store) in order to pick up the base game, the Expansion Pass (which will also give access to ‘Sam’s Story’ in 2020), or indeed The Two Colonels itself.
