Journey to the Savage Planet is one of our most favourite games of recent months. Utterly crazy, hugely immersive and highly colourful, the sci-fi exploration adventure certainly wowed us upon first release. Now though it has not just been confirmed that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to fall into the mad world of Savage Planet, but the first expansion for the game has also been detailed and dated.

So, first things first – if you haven’t yet spent time with Journey to the Savage Planet on Xbox One or PC, then come April 9th 2020, the game will be found available as a free download to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers, allowing a whole new batch of players to understand the masive draw the game has.

But further to that is news of the Journey to the Savage Planet ‘Hot Garbage’ expansion. Arriving on Xbox One and PC come April 15th, with a PS4 release occurring slightly later down the line, Hot Garbage will see us blasting off to an all-new alien planet DL-C1, tasking players with investigating reports of strange spikes in pollutants at Kindred Aerospace’s new interstellar waterfront resort.

In Hot Garbage we will understand how robotic representatives from Vyper Corp. are using Kindred’s resort as a toxic waste dump, before being pushed to explore the strange world around, working through more alien goo and reporting all findings back to corporate headquarters. Using the Kindred scanner to report their discoveries, players will be able to unlock new upgrades to gear and abilities including lead boots for adventuring underwater, a specialized Kindred suit for traversing toxic areas, an unlimited stamina ability for endless sprinting and the power of flight (well, sort of).

The Hot Garbage expansion in Journey to the Savage Planet will also introduce Kronus, a trash talking piece of Vyper Corp. property with a single mission to berate players throughout their adventure. And as you would expect to hear, the new area of this weird and wonderful world also brings new flora and fauna, including a goofy variation of the bird-like Puffer and a fleet of ‘harmless’ Vyper Corp. cleaning and flying security bots. And then after a long day of dumpster diving, you’ll be able to return to the Javelin habitat to view a selection of new commercials for the galaxy’s hottest products and services the future has to offer.

If you haven’t yet played Journey to the Savage Planet then you are missing out on something pretty special. Xbox Game Pass subscribers should therefore be downloading the game from the 9th April, whilst all should seriously be considering a look at the Hot Garbage DLC the week later. If you wish to know even more about the game, then we’ve got 5 helpful tips and tricks that you should take in before you first land on this savage planet.
