Some five years in the making, Park Story brings Zelda-like labyrinths to Xbox and PC.
Created by the one-man Scottish developer Martin Perry, Park Story opens its gates and beckons you forward into Mahagow Glen Country Park; a land that is not just highly intriguing nor super interesting, but beautiful looking too.
Priced at £15.49, Park Story releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised for new-gen) and PC through Steam as a hand-crafted puzzler plays out. It’s a game in which you’ll need to traverse the deepest dungeons, confronting your demons as you go, working standard RPG tropes and ultimately attempting to uncover the hidden secrets within.
It places you in the shoes of Parker, freshly removed from a car crash that has left him alone in this strange world; a world that is controlled by Caim, the demon raven which overlooks all. From there the narrative of Park Story plays out as you go about investigating and exploring the confines of the park around you. It’s one that promises much, unfolding slowly and surely as you and Parker traipse the pathways.
There’s a lot going on in Park Story, perhaps more than we would ever think a solo dev could handle. But Perry – otherwise known as Person of Interests – has obviously spent a ton of time building this one out, delicately adding a host of ideas.
And that brings us on to the key features of Park Story, sitting as…
- • A huge field to uncover with 15 distinct areas across an abandoned Scottish park
- • 6 handcrafted puzzle dungeons, each with a different theme. Plus caves and more to explore
- • More than 20 side quests with unique characters to meet and help
- • Unlocked items and animal transformations extend where you can explore with new abilities
- • Classic action RPG gameplay wrapped in a modern story and setting
We’re on the review train for Park Story and will be sure to deliver our thoughts as soon as we can. For now though you’ll find the download of Park Story that you need over at the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, or over on Steam for PC.
This could be a proper hidden gem.
