It may be returning to a futuristic approach, but you’d be hard pushed to say anticipation for this year’s entry in one of the planet’s biggest franchises hasn’t been at an all-time high. In recent months, with the announcement of the Blackout Battle Royale addition this time around, the Call of Duty hype has reached fever pitch. Today though the wait is finally over as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 arrives on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Whilst it may have started out life as a single player FPS series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 marks the first mainstream title entry to officially ditch the single player campaign approach, instead focusing play on the multiplayer aspect that has helped the Call of Duty series rise to such fame. That said, there is still the opportunity to get in on some single player fun with Solo Missions bringing unique experiences that focus on the games multiplayer characters – ‘Specialists’ – whilst all the usual bits of multiplayer madness return.
With this year of course seeing Activision’s big hitter jump in on the popularity craze with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s all new Blackout Battle Royale mode, there’s certainly plenty to be excited about.
