Ed-0- Zombie Uprising – an intense new roguelike

The one minute and 40 seconds of trailer that has been provided by developers LANCARSE and publisher D3Publisher is an adrenaline-fueled, scary chaos of blood, guts and zombies, as we are given a glimpse of what Ed-0: Zombie Uprising on Xbox, PlayStation and PC has to offer. It’s fast, it’s frantic, and it doesn’t ease up for a second!

1854 – Edo Japan

When it comes to zombie games, very few have dared to place their horror title in the past. However this is exactly the case when it comes to Ed-0: Zombie Uprising on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. This is a roguelike that pulls no punches when it comes to its brutal, strategic hack ’n’ slash combat, throughout the plethora of dungeons that you will be exploring.

At the opening of the game, the story is set out: you are in Edo Japan, which has recently become over-run by a zombie infestation that has come from the West. Your goal? Survive! Your secondary goal? To restore Japan to its former peaceful self by ridding the nation of zombies, one monster at a time.

Dungeon Crawling

The core gameplay loop of Ed-0: Zombie Uprising is similar to many other roguelikes out there, such as Hades and Enter the Gungeon. After picking from the Samurai, Sumo Wrestler or Ninja class, you’ll be placed within a procedurally generated dungeon, which is home to a number of weapons to obtain, abilities to learn, and of course dozens and dozens of zeds.

Different enemy types will require a different combat approach, with your screen soon filling up with blood and guts as you rip through the hordes.

There will be many key decisions to make within each run that will test your risk/reward approach to gameplay. Do you make a dash for a new ability, or stay back, and prioritise survival?

Game Description

“Oedo x Zombie x Rogue-like”

-Story and worldview

The year is 1854, in Japan at the end of the Edo period.

At the time, Japan was in the midst of its isolation, but Western countries were undergoing a technological and labor revolution called the “Zombie Industrial Revolution,” and were eagerly watching for new colonial settlements with a power unmatched in Japan.

Soon, the Black Ships arrived in Japan and demanded the opening of the country to the outside world.

This allows the zombies to invade Japan….

The zombies that entered the country created more zombies, and the zombie infestation spread around Edo.

At such a time, a group of people with mysterious powers, unaffected by zombies, appeared. People rumored them to be the “Zom-beings.”

Now, the hunt for zombies by the three “Zom-beings” has begun in order to restore Japan to the way it was before the country was opened to the outside world!!

-A unique world view that represents “Japanese x Zombies”
