Guess what? It is the dawn of a whole new Series of Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges in Forza Horizon 5, the 29th offering to test our driving skills no less. And this time, in Summer of Series 29, the theme is all about the Community Choice…

If that’s the case, I choose to have less Eventlabs and more actual racing please! No?Ah well.

For the first time in 2024 (but I’m sure that not for the last time) let’s get stuck into the new Series, the new season, and see if I can get you tips, cars and tunes to help you sort out the tests on offer.

Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – In Harmony

The weekly challenge car for Series 29 – Summer is the Aston Martin DBR1. Apparently, this car came about due to a change in the rules governing sports cars, and so Ted Cutting made a much more powerful car to take part in the racing.

Should you not have one in your garage, then it is available in the Autoshow for a hefty 22,500,000 credits. It is available in the Forzathon shop for 1200 Forza points if you haven’t got the cash.

Chapter 1 – Bending the Rules

Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!  Try not to bend it…

Chapter 2 – Feeling Light

This car has a magnesium alloy body, making it light. Test the handling, it says, by banking a skill chain of 50,000 points.

Chapter 3 – Speed Matters

Now we need to maintain a speed of 100 mph for 1 minute. Hit the highway!

Chapter 4 – Standards Set

Now simply take a photo of this beast.

Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 29.

Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts

So, with the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer, shall we?

Many Eventlabs are in this week’s rotation, which has me wearing a happy head. Still, a bit of racing might perk me up a bit!

The Trial – Fan-Tastic Tours

Start the year off with a contest against unbeatable Driverbots, eh? The cars this time have to be GT and Super GT cars., tuned to A Class 800. I went with a Bentley Continental Supersports, and the share code is : 102502146.

Should we manage to win out on this mammoth drive, a Plymouth Cuda will be ours. Makes it all worthwhile.

Eventlab 1 – Gabriel Szayel Presents – Seoul City 2.0

Modern Sports Cars and a tuning limit of A Class 800 are required this time around, and of the cars on the list, I chose a Toyota GR Supra. The share code for mine is : 984217186.

An odd circuit that gets all the corners out the way in the first half of a lap, it is still quite good fun to drive.

The prize for completing this race is a Buick Regal GNX. Boxy!

Eventlab 2 – LESLIEDAWELSH1 Presents – Los Jardines International Open

The category for this one is Extreme Track Toys, and the tuning limit is S2 Class 998. Gonna be a quick one!I

I chose a Bugatti Divo, as I like a bit of AWD, and the share code for mine is : 169915677.

The track is too twisty for this class of car, and would be a lot more enjoyable in something like an A Class I reckon. Still, not a bad effort, you’ll just spend more time braking than accelerating…

Take away a Super Wheelspin for completing this one.

Eventlab 3 – THEFILTHYHONEY Presents – Starship Horizon

This time we have to use an EV, and it has to be no more than A Class 800. I chose a stock Audi E-Tron GT.

A very imaginative track, but being able to fall off an invisible track and get stuck means it’s a no from me. Sorry!

For winning out, we can take home a nice gray suit. Just right for a nice evening drive.

PR Stunt 1 –  Danger Sign – Ranas Saltarinas

Thank goodness, normal service has been resumed, and the PR Stunts this week all share a common theme – Anything goes, up to S2 Class 998.

For a bit of jumping, it has to be a BMW X5M FE that gets the nod, and the share code is : 519084427.

We need to clear over 254 m.

We get a Super Wheelspin in return though. Yep, another week, more Super Wheelspins. Likely to be the theme for Series 29, no?

PR Stunt 2 -Speed Trap – Pantano Pass

Speed and S2 means it is time to break the old Koenigsegg Agera Rs out of retirement, and the share code is : 109282883.

We have to exceed 175 mph to triumph. Approaching from the left seems marginally quicker.

Another Super Wheelspin awaits.

PR Stunt 3 -Speed Trap – East Resort

Same situation, same car I reckon!

The difference is we need to clear over 210 mph this time around. Approaching from the left is, again, easier, I think.

Yet another Super Wheelspin awaits.

Seasonal Championship 1 -Short Circuits

For this event, it is an Aston Martin that is required, up to A Class 800. I went for a DB11 (because why wouldn’t you) and the share code is : 723867622.

For winning out, we can take home a BMW M5 from 2009, which is nice.

Seasonal Championship 2 – Mazda-ful Driving

Yes, we need a Toyota now.

Only kidding! It’s actually a Mazda, and the tuning limit is B Class 700. Of course, I chose a Miata from 1994, and the share code is : 133412220.

Should we win out, a Chevelle from 1970 will be a nice thing to take home..

Part 3: Other Challenges

There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week with Series 29 – Summer.

There are two Treasure Hunts to get excited about this week, which seems odd. But those are complemented nicely with the usual photo challenge.

Photo Challenge – #LAMBOLIGHTS

We have to photograph a Lamborghini at Aerodroma en La Selva when it is night time to win this week. Seems pretty easy, right?

See up top for my artistic effort, and below for the location – the same location as the first Treasure Hunt below.

The reward? A new Horizon Rush Tee. Woo

Treasure Hunt – Better Make WAy!

The clue this week reads “Take this maker for a meander, 3.0mi should do the trick!”.

The picture is a BMW, so I guess we need to drive a Beemer for 3 miles?

See below for pictures of the location of the treasure chest we earn, which contains 100FP.

Treasure Hunt – Relighting the Fire

The clue for this hunt reads “The Firebird will win and win again, aiming for gold!”.

The picture is a classic Pontiac Firebird, proper Smokey and the Bandit style (ask your parents, kids) and I guess we need to win two events? I won two quick drag events to make this painless at the Mexico Festival Drag Strip.

See below for pictures of the location of the treasure chest we earn, which contains 250,000 credits. That’ll help with the cost of the Aston up top!

Part 4: Hot Wheels Events

If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.

Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Ice Cauldron

We need to use an S2 Class 998 car, slide about a bit, and score over 165,000 drift points.

I went with a stock Hoonigan Hoonicorn, on the grounds that Kenny from the Block knew a bit about sliding! Approach from the north for best results, as it’s easier drifting downhill.

A Super Wheelspin is your reward.

Seasonal Championship – Pedal Pushing

This week, it is a car from the 1990’s that is required, and it has to be S1 Class 900. I went with the trusty Ford Supervan 3, and the share code for mine is : 142867545.

Completing the championship will get us an Audi RS3 which is nice.

Part 5: Rally Adventure Events

The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…

Seasonal PR Stunt -Speed Zone – Tres Colinas

Same restriction as the other PR Stunts here, and we need to average 77 mph in an S2 Class 998 vehicle. Seems pretty easy, right? Well, I used the same Koenigsegg as above, the Agera RS, and the share code is still : 109282883.

The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.

We need a Retro Hot Hatch for this race series, and the limit is only C Class 600, so it isn’t going to be fast and furious, is it? I chose a stock Honda Civic Type R from 2004, as it is already at the right level.

For winning out, we can take away a Toyota 86.

With Series 29 just beginning, you’ll want to be saving up the points again. The prizes this time are the Nissan GT-R ‘20 for 80 points, and a Porsche 911 GT3 ‘21 for 160.

If you need a few extra points to get you over the line, the monthly Rivals challenges are here; and there are a total of four to have a crack at this week – two proper events and two EV ones. Horizon Mexico Circuit and Playa Azul Circuit cover the options for the real engines, and Arch of Mulege Circuit and Emerald Circuit are in place for the EVs. Four points of offer for each, so get lapping!

Grab enough points and Series 29 Summer also sees you given access to the exclusive McLaren 12C for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get an exclusive Aston Martin DBS.Two exclusives this week!

So, Community Choice is underway, and I’ll see you here, same time next week for the next season of Series 29, Autumn. Who knows where this will take us…

To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.

Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
