session skate sim launch

The ‘90s were full of mischief, adventure, and simply letting loose. Session: Skate Sim seeks to emulate this as it ends its Game Preview adventure and rolls out a full launch.

Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms, Session sees you and your mates ollie, grind and kickflip across literally anything you can find. This isn’t so much a Tony Hawk-alike where the levels are clearly designed with certain combos in mind, as the world is your oyster, seeing you perform tricks across a number of iconic skating locations. Such locales include NYC’s Black Hubbas and Brooklyn banks, Philadelphia’s very own FDR Park, and many, many more to discover.

Developers Crea-ture Studios are also keen to show off their revolutionary gameplay system, True Stance Stick. This is where players control each of their feet on the board with a separate stick, allowing them to perfectly position their body to pull off tricks in the optimum manner. Whilst this may seem tricky to pick up at first, mastering it will be oh-so satisfying. There will also be an in-depth suite of gameplay customisation at launch, so that you can tailor your controls to a level of difficulty you are more comfortable with – there’s no harm in starting from the bottom!

But the actual skating is only half the fun of living your naughty skateboarder dream: the other half comes in the form of your threads. Session caters to the fashionista within us by granting us money through the completion of challenges, which can be used to customise both your skater and skateboard, with hundreds of options from real-world brands such as iDabble and GrindKing.

Even if to tide you over until EA drop the latest in the Skate series, Session: Skate Sim is a title for true skating enthusiasts, as well as newbies looking for a challenging but rewarding romp through urban environments. Session: Skate Sim is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for £20.99 via the Xbox Store. Alternatively, the game is available on PS5, PS4 and PC.

There’s a Deluxe Edition for £49.99 too, taking that base game and adding to it with tons of content – the Warm-Up Pack in (otherwise available for £12.49) which includes the Péitruss skatepark in Luxembourg, a new training area: the Hangar, an exclusive prisoner outfit and a couple of exclusive grip tapes.

Game Description:

With the dual stick controls, each stick represents one of your feet. You will need to learn how to control them and transfer weight, just like on a real skateboard. The physics have been developed with a focus on realism, smoothness and immersion. Just like in real life for a new skateboarder, the first hours can seem challenging, but once you have mastered the technique, you will feel the unrivalled thrill of pulling off your very first kickflip! Session: Skate Sim also includes full options customisation, so you can enjoy the perfect experience tailored to you. A full tutorial provides all the help you need to get started, and you can choose from four difficulty levels!

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
