Simple, casual and intuitive – Senshi Sokoban Quest releases on Xbox

Senshi Sokoban Quest is on Xbox

Past history has proven that the simple sokoban puzzler is one that gamers flock to. Whether it be the easy to understand ideas, the non-taxing box pushing, or the promise of easy Gamerscore and achievements, those sokoban puzzles nearly always deliver. Senshi Sokoban Quest comes to Xbox with similar ideas at the fore.

A new sokoban game on Xbox

Available right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Senshi Sokoban Quest follows in well trodden footsteps. In fact, there have been a ton of sokoban puzzlers pop up onto the Xbox Store in recent years – SokoBunny, Sokocat – Combo, SokoWinter as prime examples.

Today we ditch the animal theming though and go the route of Senshi, as whole new sokoban styled quests and missions play out. It’s all thanks to the YUME GAME STUDIO team, as they cutesy up the genre.

It’s here where you’ll be left to push boxes, dropping them onto specific tiles in order to discover stage completion. Nothing new there you may think, and you’d be right. But this one comes with a hearts system to keep an eye on, as well as lightning bolts which will let you restart things. Game changers? Probably not, but you’ll need to be mindful.

Buy now – individually or bundled

Priced at £4.19, Senshi Sokoban Quest is certainly cheap enough to take a punt. A download can be obtained via the Xbox Store, after which you can play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Alternatively, you will find the game bundled in a couple of YUME GAME STUDIO compilations. Although they are very confusing. See, we’ve got one version of the snappily titled ALL GAMES YUME GAME STUDIO kicking around for £6.69, which brings together Senshi Sokoban Quest with a previous release, Foxes Need to Eat. Frankly, that seems great value, giving a decent saving over purchasing both games individually.

Where the confustion comes in though is in the other ALL GAMES YUME GAME STUDIO bundle. Yes, exact same name. And it includes the exact same games. The difference? It costs a cool £13.24 and only adds in a PC version of the games along with those of Xbox. Weird huh? If you have any idea what YUME GAME STUDIO are thinking here, let us know in the comments.

Senshi Sokoban Quest Description

Introducing an exciting traditional Sokoban game! Your mission is to correctly position the boxes on the markers before time runs out. But be careful, if time runs out, you will lose a heart. If you lose all your hearts, the game ends. But don’t worry, you can go back to the level where you left off. Plus, we have a surprise! You can use lightning bolts to restart a level. The faster you complete a level, the more points you will earn. Get ready to have fun and challenge your mind!

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
