Smoother and more beautiful – Biomutant gets free Xbox Series X|S and PS5 upgrade

It was back in 2017 when the Biomutant hype kicked off. A beautiful looking, open-world, post-apocalyptic kung-fu RPG; there was huge hope and scope. It finally all arrived in 2021 and whilst  there were a few issues, for the most part it was a stunner. Today, with free Xbox Series X|S and PS5 upgrades, it gets smoother and more beautiful than ever before.

Should you not have ever played Biomutant before, then it’s one we wholeheartedly recommend. We dropped a 4/5 on it in review back in 2021, talking about how the Biomutant adventure is one that is utterly engrossing, with combat being the outstanding element; freeflowing and meaty.

It’s a game helped along by a super cool narrative, as well as the open-world which is full of looting, crafting and upgrading opportunities. There were issues with cutscenes and camera angles, but on the whole, they could be overlooked.

Now though Biomutant is fully utilising the power of the new-gen consoles, taking Xbox Series X|S and PS5 players through the world once again, with a free upgrade on previous Xbox and PlayStation purchases helping push out ultra-fast loading times, native 4K resolution, HDR support and 60 FPS.

Previous save games obviously carry over, as do your Xbox achievements or PS Trophies and will therefore give reason for not just new players to hop into the world, but those Biomutant vets who love to dip back in.

For those looking for full technical details, the following rundowns will be hitting Xbox Series X players, those on Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 folk…

  • Xbox Series X details:
    • The native Xbox Series X version features even faster loading times and HDR support. Players will be able to choose between three different modes:

      • – Performance Mode: Native 1440p (with Dynamic Resolution) @ stable 60 FPS
      • – Quality Unleashed: Native 4K (with Dynamic Resolution) @ up to 60 FPS

If you already own Biomutant on Xbox One, you can upgrade FOR FREE and bring your old save files and achievements with you.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
