Take to the grid as EA drop 5 new racing titles onto EA Play and Xbox Game Pass

The beauty of being an Xbox gamer is that we get the opportunity to enjoy the delights of Xbox Game Pass, gaining access to a host of brilliant Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S titles for one low monthly fee. But whilst Game Pass was good enough in itself, when EA decided to merge EA Play into the scheme too, a host of even greater opportunities opened up. That’s the case here and now as EA drop 5 more games into the system, with DiRT, GRID and F1 racers rolling up to the start line.

Available today as part of EA Play and Xbox Game Pass, we find EA throwing GRID, DIRT Rally, DIRT Rally 2.0, DIRT 4 and F1 2020, all fully playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. And yep, provided you have subscriptions in place for EA Play and Game Pass, all those games will be playable, without the need to stump up any extra fee.

So what do we have exactly with the games? Well, F1 2020 pretty much speaks for itself – it’s the official videogame of the 2020 F1 season; the game which was the F1 leader until the even more astounding F1 2021 rocked up just a few short weeks back. If you’re up for the bling, the glamour, the glitz and the speed of racing, F1 2020 is going to cover every single base you could ever need.

Kicking around alongside that is GRID. Having released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC back in 2019, pushed out to market by a Codemasters team that was absolutely flying, GRID comes to EA Play thanks to EA’s recent acquisition of Codies – in fact, all these games come along today thanks to the cash purchase.

A reboot of the series, which in itself looks to be taking another new direction with the upcoming release of GRID Legends in 2022, GRID is a perfectly tuned racer, one that will have you plowing along some beautifully realised race locations and the chance to take to a multiplayer scene that is a whole load of fun. If you haven’t previously discovered the joys of GRID, now is your chance.

Today also allows the chance to take in the DIRT series of games, with no less than three titles coming to the service – DIRT 4, DIRT Rally and DIRT Rally 2.0

We’re huge fans of DIRT as a series and in DIRT 4 and both Rally titles, the franchise was in good hands. Admittedly, the original DIRT Rally is now some 5 years of age, and DIRT 4 isn’t far off that, but both are still more than capable of holding a place in and amongst the competition. With DIRT Rally 2.0 though, you’re getting access to possibly the best true rally title currently on the market, one that just so happens to be chock-full of additional downloadable content should you take the fancy.

In all it’s a great day for racing fans, as some of the very finest racers of recent years come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players via the power of Xbox Game Pass and EA Play. The question is, which will you be playing first? Let us know in the comments.

You’ll be able to grab the downloads you need for each game from the Xbox Store.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
