Over the course of the last few years DONTNOD Entertainment have cemented their place at the top of the storytelling table. And here they are again delivering a similar experience with the three-part release of Tell Me Why on Xbox One and PC.

After bursting onto the scene with the hugey underrated Remember Me, DONTNOD became a household name with the launch of the Life Is Strange series, first telling the tale of young Max, dealing with The Adventures of Captain Spirit and then letting gamers follow the Diaz brothers on a trip through Mexico. Even though much focus must now also be on the upcoming release of the awesome looking Twin Mirror, plugging the hole in any narrative adventure fans’ life is that of Tell Me Why.

Releasing today with the first chapter in this three-parter, Tell Me Why on Xbox One and PC (with Xbox Play Anywhere support) is DONTNOD’s new mystery tale in which we are thrust into the lives of Tyler and Alyson Ronan – twins from a small Alaskan town.

It is this story which will provide the backbone of Tell Me Why as we get the opportunity to discover the intimate story behind them, as memories from a trobled childhood come to the fore.

Chapter 1 of Tell Me Why is available right this very instant and should provide enough of a backstory to really let us delve deep into the Ronan twins. That will be followed on the 3rd September by the second chapter, with things rounded off a week later on the 10th by the concluding piece.

A price of ÂŁ24.99 will see you covered by the whole affair, however thanks to this game being published by those at Xbox Game Studios, all Xbox Game Pass players will be able to embark on this journey for free. If you thought the Game Pass subscription was good already, this just hammers home that feel.  The Xbox Store will deliver the usual download whilst our upcoming review of all three parts will be available for perusal in the days and weeks ahead. And don’t forget, with the power of Xbox Play Anywhere in tow, you can play Tell Me Why on PC and Xbox One.

What’s not to like?

Game Description:

Tell Me Why is the latest narrative adventure game from DONTNOD Entertainment, the studio behind the beloved franchise, Life is Strange. In this intimate mystery, reunited twins Tyler and Alyson Ronan use their supernatural bond to unravel the mysteries of their loving but troubled childhood. Set in beautiful small-town Alaska, Tell Me Why features true-to-life characters, mature themes and gripping choices. An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
