Trust no one: Game Pass introduces Among Us and Aliens: Fireteam Elite today

If feeling unsafe and hunted in the quietus of space is your thing, then we have two offerings for you today. Arriving on Game Pass today is Among Us (Console) and Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Console, PC).

There’s a very good chance that you’ve already been exposed to the backstabbing antics of Among Us. It will be fondly associated with lockdown, as it gave us an opportunity to be together remotely, smack-talking and betraying each other like the lockdown never happened. Until now, that experience has been reserved for platforms like the PC, mobile and Switch, but that changes today, as Among Us launches on Xbox and Game Pass.

The premise hasn’t changed. You are a hazmat-suited little goober, and you are joined by other players (local or online) in a space station. Your task is to ensure that the station remains working and all your tasks are completed. Except, one player is quietly told that they are the ‘Imposter’, which means that they must undermine those efforts at every opportunity, kill other crewmates, and ultimately remain undetected.

If you’ve never played Among Us before, we can only recommend you play it. You will never look at your friends in the same way again. Plus you will be getting some achievements for defeating them.

Also out today is Aliens: Fireteam Elite, which launches onto Game Pass alongside the Season 2: Point Defense update. Set in the ‘Alien’ universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person survival shooter that dropships your fireteam of marines into a fight to contain the evolving Xenomorph threat.

This is very much set in the James Cameron corner of the Alien universe, with brawny, macho marines taking down waves of Xenomorphs with chain guns and turret guns. We liked it a whole lot, giving it a 4.5/5, saying “all in all, Fireteam Elite has been able to take me right back to the days when Aliens was new, and that’s a very good thing indeed”. Game over, man, game over.

Plenty of games are still to grace Game Pass in time for Christmas. On December 16th we have Ben 10: Power Trip (Console, PC, Cloud), Broken Age (Console, PC, Cloud), Firewatch (Console, PC, Cloud), Lake (Console, PC, Cloud), Mortal Kombat 11 (Console, PC, Cloud), Race With Ryan (Console, PC, Cloud), The Gunk (Console, PC, Cloud) and Transformers: Battlegrounds (Console, PC, Cloud).

Cheers Phil Spencer. That’s a decent sized bundle of treats. Let us know if you fancy them, or plan on queuing at Customer Service for a return in the comments below. We’re on the usual social channels too.
