Whilst it may be a work in progress, developers Asobo Studio have treated us to a rather decent sized chunk of gameplay footage for A Plague Tale: Innocence. Prepare yourself for 16 whole minutes of it!
A Plague Tale: Innocence is an upcoming adventure that takes place way back in 1349, where rats are swarming in uninterrupted waves throughout the territory of France. In the plague-ridden villages, countryside and battlefields, this rather uncontrollable and ravenous mass of rats continues to advance relentlessly. The creatures will devour everything in their path – people and animals alike – to satisfy the endless hunger of their ever-increasing population. Your focus is on Amicia and Hugo though, ensuring they escape the fate that many have already succumbed to. Fortunately, Amicia holds a flame that appears to repel the menacing swarm that’s leaving corpses in its wake.
In the gameplay sequence featured in the video, we’ll follow Amicia and her young brother Hugo through a small portion of one of the game’s chapters – the site of a brutal clash between the armies of France and England, currently locked in what will in fact be known as the Hundred Years’ War.
A Plague Tale: Innocence launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2019. If you’ve got the time, do have a watch of the footage and let us know what you think!
