Death Squared is a cooperative puzzle game following a team of robots all trying to escape a treacherous A.I. testing facility, and today, the release date has been confirmed.
Arriving on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come 14th March 2017, Death Squared will test friendships and push your problem solving skills to the nth degree. You’ll be tasked with guiding teams of two or four robots to their own unique way-point in levels which increasingly ramp up the difficulty. With death traps littering the way, you’ll need to be smart in order to save your cuboid friends from heading to the big scrapyard in the sky.
The problems are increased when you take into account that if one robot meets their death, the entire squad returns to the beginning of the level. Players must therefore work together to learn each stage, with trial and error proving essential and each player putting newly-gained knowledge of a level’s hidden obstacles into action.
Additionally, ‘Party Chaos’ ditches the two player story and puts challenges in place for groups of four friends. A single-player can also enjoy the traditionally two-player story mode, whilst two players can tackle the “party chaos” challenges, by controlling two robots with one controller.
“Death Squared began as a simple cooperative concept focused on minimal direction and having players answer a simple question; What do we do?” said Patrick Cook, lead designer, SMG Studio. “It’s been a pleasure building that idea into a game that can be enjoyed by individuals, groups, and people of all ages and skill levels. The response from fans has been wonderful and we’re eager to finally let people play it at home.”
If you’re heading out to RTX Sydney, then Death Squared will be playable with SMG Studio debuting all-new stages and exclusive content for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.
As always, we’ll remind you when Death Squared arrives.
