Hotel Transylvania 3 is due to hit the big screens this summer and today Outright Games have announced a partnership with Sony Pictures Animation which sees them creating a game based on the films.
Hotel Transylvania (the game) will pick up where Hotel Transylvania 3 (the film) leaves off – where Drac’s Pack have landed themselves in bother once more. After becoming washed overboard and lost on some mysterious islands, it will be up to you to help rescue their favorite monster friends from fearsome enemies. There will also be the opportunity to discover lovable new allies with amazing abilities, and push your puzzle-solving skills to the limit – all in order to find friends, and the magic compass needed to get back to Hotel Transylvania.
Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games, states, “As a family business, we set out to create high quality games that families can enjoy. We know that this collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, combined with our expertise at fantastic family entertainment, will mean we can bring this franchise to life in the form of a fun game for players everywhere.”
“It is an exciting collaboration between our two companies,” says Jamie Stevens, EVP Worldwide Consumer Products at Sony, “We are dedicated to providing enjoyable and memorable experiences to families around the world, and by working together, I truly believe that we can do that in the form of this game.”
Expect to see the Hotel Transylvania game releasing in the Summer of 2018 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. With the film due to hit cinemas on July 13th, we’d expect to see the game join it with release around then too.
About HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3:
In Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3, join our favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans. But the dream vacation turns into a nightmare when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monsterkind. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and written by Genndy Tartakovsky and Michael McCullers, the film is produced by Michelle Murdocca.
Wow. The first movie wan’t even good enough to warrant a sequel, and the sequel was just terrible in every way. I know they both made good $$, but it really doesn’t make good sense to roll the dice on a third film AND a game. Sony’s track record at the box office has been less than mediocre in the last several years, and isn’t looking to improve with the ‘Venom’ and ‘Silver & Black’ movies…on the heels of running the Spider-man franchise into the ground.
