SHMUP Fans listen up, and listen up real good, for a modern take on the shoot ’em up action genre is coming real soon!

Dropping on Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita come April 28th 2015, Project Root will bring dizzy bullet storm action, free roaming exploration and the most timeless of top down shooting to your consoles.

Taking on the role of rebel ace Lance Rockport, you’ll get to pilot the F-72 Zonda Hover fighter as you go up against the ruthless Prometheus Corporation. Spread across eight huge open levels, players will take on enemies both in the air and over the ground, utilising special weapon drops and evading a constant hell-storm of bullets.

Project Root aims to throw a modern take on the SHMUP genre with bullets, missles and lasers galore!

“We’ve been blasting countless enemies both on the ground and in the sky in Project Root for so long, we’re so excited that we’re just about a month away from gamers everywhere getting the chance to do the same,” said Pablo Testa, Technical Director at OPQAM. “We are extremely proud of our first game, and think that SHMUP fans, and anyone who enjoys a fast-paced and action-packed videogame, will have a lot of fun with Project Root.”

We’ll be sure to remind you once it becomes available on Xbox One.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
