Eternal Dark Frontier

Dire Wolf Digital have announced that the newest expansion for free-to-play collectible card game Eternal, Dark Frontier, is now available on Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android. So let’s delve into what the sixth set brings to the table and explore the Shadowlands, a strange and deadly place where twisted magic and ancient mysteries challenge the boundaries of possibility.

The lore behind Dark Frontier explains that when Vara emerged from the Shadowlands, she brought with her knowledge of a changing world, one whose boundaries reached through a veil of shadow… and beyond. Vara’s survival in that corrupted place confirmed much of what Talir had begun to investigate when the Strangers marched on Argenport; the long-dormant Waystones mark paths through the trackless plains, paths that may even lead from one reality to the next. That’s if you can survive the dangers that lurk within.

The Dark Frontier set introduces over 200 new cards and several new mechanics, including the following:

  • Onslaught – Rewarding those aggressive urges in the heat of battle, cards with Onslaught offer rewards if you or any of your units have attacked.
  • Twist – Those that enter the Shadowlands don’t always come out the same. Used any number of times during your turn, Twist will grant units +1/-1, granting strength while losing health and providing a variety of strategic benefits.
  • Shift – The Shadowlands have blurred the lines that separate “what is” from “what is not.” Units that are Shifted cannot attack, block, or be selected by any cards for three turns.

Dark Frontier also introduces a new draft format for Eternal, consisting of two Dark Frontier packs and two Eternal Draft Packs, which includes cards from all five previous sets. With the newest set opening first, players will get the best chance to sculpt their draft around Dark Frontier cards and themes.

Be sure to check out the newest expansion, Dark Frontier, next time you load up Eternal on Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android!
