Snooker 19 to hit a maximum on Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC in Spring 2019 as first gameplay trailer emerges

-

We previously told you how Snooker 19 from Ripstone Games was set to tear up the baize on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC at some point in 2019. Well, whilst a fully confirmed, nailed down release date is still to appear, it seems like for now a Spring 2019 window will have to do – and the latest gameplay trailer confirms that.

The first licensed snooker game to release in a generation, Snooker 19 will be potting balls left, right, and centre on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC when it launches in the spring – and to celebrate that window, Ripstone have dropped the first gameplay trailer.

Found to be showcasing the Unreal Engine 4 powered tech that will hold Snooker 19 together, this first gameplay trailer shows off the most authentic
depiction of the sport that has ever been created. Stunning visuals, incredible physics and 3D facial scanning technology, bring the game to life like never before. This means that there will be a full TV-style presentation in the game, alongside evocative visual details of the players, arenas and equipment. It is these player likenesses which have been meticulously created using 3D facial scanning technology, while the subtle yet detailed wood grain of the cues and tables is rendered impeccably. Snooker 19 therefore promises to set a new visual standard for the genre, with the glare of the spotlights reflecting accurately off the polished balls, and allowing players to soak up the atmosphere thanks to the advanced physics and AI engines which ensure the action remains tense, thrilling, and most importantly, true to real life.

Things only get better when you take into account the fact that no less than 128 of the world’s top players – including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, Mark Selby and Ding Junhui – will all be present, taking to the table at iconic venues including The Crucible and Alexandra Palace. You’ll be able to choose to play across multiple modes too, with a full suite of offline and online modes to master every official tournament. These include global online tournaments that link in real-time with the live World Snooker calendar, quick play online match-making, and fully customised matches of full snooker, 6-red snooker and fast-paced Shoot-Out snooker.

If that all sounds like heaven to you and you feel the need to pocket some balls, then you’ll want to shoot down to EGX Rezzed at Tobacco Dock, London from the 4th-6th April where Snooker 19 will be fully playable for the first time.

“It’s been way too long since the last flagship snooker title,” said Justin Forrest of Lab42. “We’re hugely excited to finally give players a snooker simulation worthy of this increasingly popular sport. The combination of official World Snooker licensed content, high quality, authentic gameplay and TV-style presentation, Snooker 19 is the complete package for both newcomers and hardcore fans.”

“Partnering with Lab42 and World Snooker to bring players Snooker 19 marks a significant step-change for us,” said Phil Gaskell of Ripstone. “The sport has grown exponentially in the years since the last official snooker title. Our game is built from the ground up for new and old fans alike, and we feel it’s the right time to create a game that reflects where snooker and the gaming industry is today.”
