Join the Galaxy Squad on Xbox

We didn’t expect the Galaxy Squad to rock up onto Xbox with turn-based tactical roguelike elements in tow. All we wanted was the chance to blast our way through space in some twin-stick shooting form. But it is what it is, and right now that’s the best we got!

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Galaxy Squad will see you leading a team of space mercenaries (like we’re never done that before), into a randomly generated galaxy (pretty sure we’re been there too!) that has been populated by a variety of events.

Our task from there will be to explore and to engage, taking down any foes we happen to come across. There’s a good chance we’ll rock up against some serious gangs too, with hordes of enemies all waiting for their chance to get involved in a bit of a rumble.

Thankfully we can upgrade our ships in hope of creating the ultimate fighting force, before heading out to explore some more and to then rinse and repeat everything from the past. It’s a simple premise and the £8.39 asking price that you’ll find Galaxy Squad available for from the Xbox Store would suggest a simple enough game, but only a full review will be able to go into the details required. We’ll be sure to get one of those out there when we can.

Failing that, get a peek of the key features…

  • Explore different planets and systems, fight huge hordes of enemies
  • Upgrade your ship and use its systems in events or in battles
  • Explore space stations, find quests
  • A well-developed story campaign system, involving your characters and branching storylines
  • Upgrade your equipment with different modifications and find rare loot

For now though, if you fancy joining up with the Galaxy Squad on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, head over to the Xbox Store.

Game Description:

The game combines node-based exploration with random events, with hardcore tactical battles. All your characters are randomly generated, and you can evolve them however you want, creating your ultimate crew.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
