asterix and obelix slap them all

There has been a big old push of the Asterix & Obelix franchise in recent years, with multiple videogames featuring the duo having launched to mixed success. Now though it’s time for Asterix & Obelix to try again – this time as they look to Slap Them All!

Available to purchase and download on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch (with a PC launch a little down the line), Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! from Microids and Mr Nutz Studio sees our favourite Gauls head off on a new and exciting adventure, one that will take them through various iconic locations from the comic books – the Gaul countryside, off to Egypt and through Hispania.

Priced at £33.49, Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is set in 50 B.C.E. Gaul; a land that is occupied by the Romans. In fact, there’s just the one small village that holds out against the invaders – a village in which the occupents are more than happy to dish out a slap or two.

With an artistic direction that runs extremely close to the iconic comic books, with hand drawn scenery and animations, Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! should well provide a bit of a tribute to the classics. But it obviously adds in plenty of new ideas too, mixing up the beat ’em up genre with some Gaul madness. And yes, there’s local cooperative play present should you be looking for that too.

Key features include:

  • Play as Asterix and Obelix in cooperation (local multiplayer mode) with family or friends!
  • Slap thousands of Romans away with a wide range of moves and unique combos to each character!
  • The Adventure mode chapters are based on existing Asterix & Obelix albums. The game also features an exclusive chapter that was created specifically for the game.
  • Alongside the main adventure, discover mini-games to complete the feast of our Gaulish friends!
  • Enjoy hand-drawn designs faithful to the original comic books series and animations created especially for the game.

You’ll find Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! available on the usual digital stores, with us Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players picking up a download from the Xbox Store. The game is also on PlayStation and Switch too.

Hold tight for our full review. We’ll be slapping with the best of ’em in no time.

And if this one isn’t to your liking, consider Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered, Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 or Asterix and Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir.

Game Description:

The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely… One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. Everything is falling apart! Our two heroes will travel all around the world to fight the Roman Empire in a 2D horizontal scrolling Beat Them Up game, completely hand-drawn and made in the purest tradition of the genre. Enemies and wild boars will have to be cautious! Asterix and Obelix are back… And it’s going to be another great fight!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
