Drown start shipping their fully immersive tactile audio gaming earphones

-

You may have previously heard of Drown and their quest to deliver the world’s first tactile earphones for gaming. Well good news, because right now the revolution has started.

Having run the Indiegogo route, Drown Ltd are now in a position to start shipping out their game-changing technology – at least first to those who backed their immersive tactile audio gaming earphones on Indiegogo, along with anyone who has previously pre-ordered a set via their website.

Promising to deliver a new way to experience gaming audio, Drown tactile earphones use tactile transmission of audio waves to deliver a fully immersive gaming experience. This means that Drown give all players the power to perceive their in-game surrounding as if it were a real-life physical space, delivering precise spatial awareness that gives gamers the edge they need to dominate during play.

Working with any unit that utilises a 3.5mm jack system, Drown’s technology was first created and patented by Canadian sound engineer Mark O’Callaghan, who set out to change the audio landscape. Recognising the importance of audio, music and spatial awareness in gaming, Mark then teamed up with Silicon Valley design veteran David Law to take Drown from prototype to mass production. Since that time they have assembled a crack team of gamers, designers, and engineers, all focused on enhancing gaming audio for a unique and totally new experience.

The big question that is no doubt on your lips though is, how does it work? Well, Drown is proud to be the world’s first tactile audio platform to use all three audio pathways to players’ brain for deeply enhanced audio realism. Using patented waveguide technology, sound is guided to the ear canal without reflection in the outer ear, providing a fully immersive sound unlike any other. While over-the-ear headphones lose fidelity because of the distance between the speaker and the ear, Drown transmits the acoustic vibrations directly to the nerves and cartilage in your pinnae, enriching the bass and the overall sound quality.

With both Sony and Microsoft in the process of developing spatial audio technology for Xbox Series X and PS5, Drown are managing to push out this same next-generation audio for players today. Ideal for competitive gamers or simply by those who enjoy getting lost in the soundscapes of their favourite open-world titles, Drown promises to bring players closer to their favourite games in a previously unimaginable way.

Key features of the new Drown tactile earphones include:

  • Acoustic seals: The Drown patented silicone seals fit comfortably to deliver a perfectly shaped audio wave. The seals come in four different sizes, meticulously designed to fit ears of nearly all different shapes and sizes.
  • Graphene Drivers: Drown uses high-quality graphene dynamic drivers to transmit greater audio information, and enriched bass. The driver is precisely positioned to transfer subtle vibration cues to the outer ear.
  • Wired for lag-free gaming: High-quality cable give the best possible acoustic signal and eliminate lag for the highest quality gaming experience.
  • Passive Noise Isolation.
  • The Drown bass is deep without overwhelming the higher frequencies. The best of both worlds for the most authentic sound.
