A new Star Fox? The Fur Squadron buckle up on Xbox and PlayStation

Fur Squadron brings Star Fox vibes to Xbox and PlayStation

It’s immediately obvious – no matter whether you watch the trailer or look at the screenshots. Fur Squadron on Xbox and PlayStation has obviously been inspired by the iconic Star Fox. And we don’t mind that one little bit.

Available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation is Fur Squadron. It’s also seen previous releases on PC and Nintendo Switch, all thanks to the Dolores Entertainment team.

A new Star Fox?

Initially put together by those at Raptor Claw Games, Fur Squadron could well be seen as a bit of a love letter to that iconic from years gone by. An arcade space shooter, it’s visually reminiscent of Star Fox, albeit with a more modern day glow up.

Running on rails, it tasks you with heading into a virtual reality simulation, following the adventures of a team of elite pilots. From there, all hell breaks loose.

Priced at £5.79 on the Xbox Store (we’ll admit, we were expecting this one to be more heavily priced so that’s a nice little treat), Fur Squadron should well appeal to many. It’s full of colour too, as those VR sim aspects try to take hold in and amongst the shooting.

With full Xbox Series X|S optimisation in house, if you’re up for tackling the evil forces of the Skal Empire, then you should go and grab a copy of Fur Squadron right now.

The Xbox Store will do the usual and deliver the download you need for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Expect to find this one on the digital stores of PlayStation, Switch and PC too.

Stick around for a review.

Fur Squadron on Xbox Game Description

FUR Squadron is an arcade space shooter on rails, which follows the adventure of a team of elite pilots during what seems at first a routine training in virtual reality.

In this mind-blowing journey through retrowave aesthetic environments and synthesizer music you will face the simulations (or not) of the units and minions of the evil Skal Empire.

Meet your team. The brave leader of the FUR Squadron, the ferret Blaze Mustela. The sarcastic ace pilot Kiro Nax. And the brilliant and cheerful engineer Axel Mex.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
