Darren Edwards

I have been playing games since a very early age, thanks to my Dad's encouragement. I've been an Xbox gamer since the very beginning, the Master Chief is to thank for that. I'm also a big Nintendo geek, and my other half is a PlayStation nut. I'll play pretty much anything in any genre (although FIFA and COD maybe pushing it).

Sker Ritual Review

There’s certainly room for improvement, but Sker Ritual is an enjoyable zombie horde shooter that will appeal to fans of the genre.

Slave Zero X Review

Slave Zero X will certainly put a smile on the face of those who played the original in the late '90s, and oozes a distinct biopunk style.

Freedom Planet 2 Review

Freedom Planet 2 evokes so much of what makes a great platformer, but feels a little bloated in parts.

Turbo Golf Racing Review

You'll really enjoy what Turbo Golf Racing offers, and it is perfect for shorter gaming sessions.

Frightence Review

Despite being short, linear and fairly simple, Frightence does a good job of throwing you into the centre of a horror experience.

Exclusive interview – Checking out the sides of The Last Cube with Improx Games

When we heard that Improx Games were bringing The Last Cube to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, we were immediately interested. With a combination of a huge number of levels, some seriously good looking stages and a highly intriguing ‘sticker’ system, it was a puzzler that piqued our interest. So when Improx Games agreed to a little chat, divulging more info on the game, we couldn’t say no.

Building Up to the Release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

I could ramble on and on about the sheer volume of content in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but I will save that for the full review of the game on Xbox Series X|S. However, be safe in the knowledge that it's on course to deliver its promise of being the biggest LEGO game yet.

Getting our hands on the milk of Moo Lander

Moo Lander is billed as an action RPG game with Metroidvania elements. It certainly is intriguing and has a look which is likely to attract players. However, from what we’ve seen we're unsure as to whether this can be sustained over a full single player campaign. We’ll only know for sure when we see moo-ore.

The Last Cube Review

There’s more than meets the eye in The Last Cube. It may be unassuming, but it’s smart, deep and totally engrossing.

Game Music Festival 2022 – An Evening with Ori and Cuphead

I was excited about the Game Music Festival before I went along. However, I was not prepared for just how emotionally invested I would become.

Submerged: Hidden Depths Review

Submerged: Hidden Depths nails its core aim. It’s an experience that plays more along the lines of an interactive art exhibit instead of a traditional game. That may not appeal to everyone, but it’s a slice of tranquillity we could all benefit from.

Exclusive interview – Diving into the secrets of Submerged: Hidden Depths with Uppercut Games

Just prior to launch of the relaxploration title, we grabbed Ed Orman, one of the founders of Uppercut Games and game designer on Submerged, in order to find out more about the secrets of Hidden Depths.

Will You Snail Review

The neon-clad battle for survival between an adorable snail and a killer AI gives Will You Snail something of a distinctive feel. However, ultimately you will need to be a talented, patient platformer fan to get the most from it.

Looking Back to 2002 with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3

I was a little disappointed when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was announced. This was simply for the reason that the third game - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - was the one which held the fondest memories.

Looking Back to 2017 and the Launch of the Nintendo Switch

Five years ago, in 2017, the Nintendo Switch launched pretty much simultaneously around the globe. It needed to be a hit, and rather cunningly Nintendo seemed to be drawing their home console and handheld strands together with a machine that was both.

Looking Back to the 2012 release of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is something of a hybrid - available on that wonderful service known as Xbox Game Pass

Looking Back to 2002 with the Super Stylish Jet Set Radio Future

Jet Set Radio Future is set in 2024, and we have nearly reached that year in our own lives. However, due to its originality and super cool style, it manages somehow to be timeless.

Monster Crown Review

Despite seeming like an alternate version of Pokemon in many ways, Monster Crown isn’t a total imposter. It is still enjoyable in it’s own right, but apart from a handful of original ideas this is largely because the core gameplay has already been tried and tested.

CrossfireX Review

CrossfireX is a strange beast which doesn't quite fit together. Odd development decisions and a real lack of ambition result in a barely average experience which pales into insignificance when compared to its competitors and previous developer efforts.
