Darren Edwards

I have been playing games since a very early age, thanks to my Dad's encouragement. I've been an Xbox gamer since the very beginning, the Master Chief is to thank for that. I'm also a big Nintendo geek, and my other half is a PlayStation nut. I'll play pretty much anything in any genre (although FIFA and COD maybe pushing it).

Slave Zero X Review

Slave Zero X will certainly put a smile on the face of those who played the original in the late '90s, and oozes a distinct biopunk style.

Freedom Planet 2 Review

Freedom Planet 2 evokes so much of what makes a great platformer, but feels a little bloated in parts.

Turbo Golf Racing Review

You'll really enjoy what Turbo Golf Racing offers, and it is perfect for shorter gaming sessions.

The Mobius Machine Review

Despite nothing in particular wowing in The Mobius Machine, that won't stop you from playing until the very end.

The Falconeer: Edge of the World DLC Review

The Edge of the World DLC offers much more of the same, which will please some but not everyone. To make The Falconeer a truly must have game, future additions will need to be a little more radical.

Gamescom – The Top 6 Highlights From Opening Night Live

In a year where digital events and showcases have ranged from pretty good to downright abysmal, how did Gamescom's Opening Night Live fare this year? And what should Xbox gamers be excited for?

Looking Back to 2016 with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Fall Of The Machines

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was released exactly five years after its predecessor, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It built on the world set up in the previous game, whilst taking steps to evolve the gameplay further. Despite being a solid sequel, it didn’t quite manage to capture the imagination in the same way as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, despite being thoroughly enjoyable to play.

Tetragon Review – Turn It Again

Tetragon is an attractive puzzle platformer, but not without its niggles. It’s enjoyable for the most part, however the final boss exposes the control scheme issues that otherwise don’t prove too troublesome elsewhere.

Looking back to 2011 with Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Man Vs Machine

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was ahead of its time. It was near impossible not to be absorbed into the morally grey and at times dystopian future society, where technology had advanced so far its power was unrivalled. Ten years later and the game still impresses today.

NO THING Review – A Message For You

There may only be an hour or two of action in NO THING, but it’s that rarest of things in gaming today. That is, a uniquely enjoyable experience which is difficult to put into words, but worth sitting down with and checking out for yourself. You could say there's nothing quite like it.

Looking Back to 1986 with Bubble Bobble – Forever Bursting Bubbles

Bubble Bobble, Puzzle Bobble, Bust-A-Move. All feature the cute little dragon duo Bub and Bob, but it can get a little confusing as to exactly what the difference is between each game. Here we’re going to focus on where it all started, when Bubble Bobble hit arcades around the world back in 1986.

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins Review – Don’t Blink!

Thanks to creative and inventive storytelling, Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins offers the best video game experience that the franchise has to offer.

Get Packed: Fully Loaded Review – Smash and Grab

Get Packed: Fully Loaded is lots of fun. Despite not being the most original concept, there’s plenty on offer here for a very reasonable price which should do more than raise a smile.

Order of Battle: World War II Review – What Is It Good For?

Order of Battle: World War II is a rich, detailed and authentic experience suitable for historic strategy fans, with enough DLC to keep them busy for weeks. There’s nothing here to tempt newcomers to the genre however - this is a game solely aimed at its target audience.

Looking Back to 2016 with Overcooked! – Cooking Up a Storm

We’re home to some fantastic creative minds from the world of video games, and of course here I’m referring to Team17. The inventive folks behind the Worms series got behind a game called Overcooked! back in 2016; a title which was developed by Ghost Town Games. It was such a hit that Team17 themselves got involved in developing the sequel.

Freddy Spaghetti 2.0 Review – Upgrade Failed

Despite the name, Freddy Spaghetti 2.0 is a step backwards. It has less ideas, less levels and less ambition than the first game. As a fan of the original, I was hoping for something more from the oddly lovable strip of slinky sentient spaghetti.

Police Stories Review – Feelin’ Lucky Punk?

Police Stories brings some good ideas to the table but with them comes inconsistent execution. It’s punishing and unforgiving, which will take the fun out of the equation for those looking for a quick blast.

Arkan: The dog adventurer Review – Who’s A Clever Boy Then?

Arkan: The dog adventurer matches platforming and puzzling surprisingly well, offering block-breaking thrills without too many spills. It’s worth a look, especially for fans of the classic arcade hit.

Looking Back to 1981 With Donkey Kong – Role Reversal

Donkey Kong is an important game for so many reasons, and remains fun to play, even an amazing 40 years later.
