Darren Edwards

I have been playing games since a very early age, thanks to my Dad's encouragement. I've been an Xbox gamer since the very beginning, the Master Chief is to thank for that. I'm also a big Nintendo geek, and my other half is a PlayStation nut. I'll play pretty much anything in any genre (although FIFA and COD maybe pushing it).

Sker Ritual Review

There’s certainly room for improvement, but Sker Ritual is an enjoyable zombie horde shooter that will appeal to fans of the genre.

Slave Zero X Review

Slave Zero X will certainly put a smile on the face of those who played the original in the late '90s, and oozes a distinct biopunk style.

Freedom Planet 2 Review

Freedom Planet 2 evokes so much of what makes a great platformer, but feels a little bloated in parts.

Turbo Golf Racing Review

You'll really enjoy what Turbo Golf Racing offers, and it is perfect for shorter gaming sessions.

Looking Back to 1981 With Donkey Kong – Role Reversal

Donkey Kong is an important game for so many reasons, and remains fun to play, even an amazing 40 years later.

Synchro Hedgehogs Review – Twice As Good?

There’s not enough of a difference to materially change the experience that Synchro Hedgehogs offers versus the Butterfly games - it’s more of a slight tweak of the gameplay. As a result, the game has more than a strong sense of deja vu about it.

Butterfly 2 Review – Groundhog Day

Butterfly 2 brings almost nothing new to the table, providing more of the same platforming action as the first game. However, a lack of appetite to improve and evolve the game is disappointing, and makes it hard to recommend.

Smart Moves 2 Review – If it ain’t broke…

Smart Moves 2 serves up a near identical experience to the first game, so if you enjoyed that, then you’ll be happy with what’s on offer here. Conversely, if you didn’t then there’s nothing from the sequel to tempt you in, at all.

Looking Back to 2006 with Prey – Comes With Baggage

Prey is one of those games which has an interesting story to tell, but it's nothing to do with what happens in the actual game.

Infinitrap: Rehamstered Review – That Sinking Feeling

Infinitrap: Rehamstered is a frantic little adventure game that almost makes dying fun. However, the Xbox release is a fairly meagre offering which falls short of its potential.

The Strange Story of Brian Fisher: Chapter 1 Review

Unfortunately, despite an intriguing proposition, The Strange Story of Brian Fisher: Chapter 1 fails to meet its ambitions at almost every turn. What results is a lacklustre experience for which I cannot recommend saving your pennies for.

Let’s Cook Together Review – A Kitchen Nightmare?

Let's Cook Together borrows heavily from Overcooked! and overall it offers a less complex, more simplistic experience that’s suitable for gamers of all ages. It’s still a lot of fun to play though, because put simply, what it does, it does well.

Looking Back to 1996 with Super Mario 64 – Let’s-a Go!

Super Mario 64 remains effortlessly brilliant to this day. Thanks to a leap forward graphically, a real feeling of freedom in how you play and everything present which makes the franchise so brilliant, it’s fair to say that Super Mario 64 is quite possibly one of the most influential games of all time.

Where Does E3 Go From Here?

E3 has always been a real highlight. Traditionally, it’s a time where all the big names roll out their most anticipated releases, as well as plenty of surprises to keep fans happy. Despite my pro-E3 stance it would be remiss of me to not recognise that it is struggling to live up to its reputation, and the expectation from gamers around the world.

Super Bomberman R Online Review – Having a Blast

As a free-to-play title, Super Bomberman R Online doesn’t have a lot to offer in all honesty. Quick Matches provide short, sharp bursts of fun but beyond that there’s nothing else to see really. If you and your friends are willing to invest a little in the game, you can breathe some more life into it, but overall it’s a very similar experience throughout.

Quantum Replica Review – Fight the Power

Quantum Replica tries to keep things fresh even though it borrows from those which inspired it. Despite some rough edges, what results is a surprisingly comprehensive adventure.

Off And On Again Review – Surprisingly Effective

Hopefully Off And On Again won’t have you reaching for the power button, because despite costing perhaps more than it should, there’s a decent little adventure on offer here.

Looking Back to 1986 with Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels almost feels like a bootleg version of the legendary platformer. However, through its efforts to trip you up at every turn, it results in being a fascinating piece of gaming history that should not be overlooked.

Just Die Already Review – No Country for Old Men

As wonderfully ridiculous as Just Die Already is, after a few hours you may struggle to find enough to keep your attention. This isn't down to a lack of direction, but instead the shallow gameplay depth. It's a wild ride while it lasts though.
