Ever wanted to adventure through a magical tower as an onion-headed warrior, all in order to seduce a Cyber Goddess? No?! Well, perhaps you do now, with the release of Ratalaika Games’ Garlic on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.
A Classic Platformer
Ratalaika Games describe Garlic on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, as reminiscent of classic Wario platformers, albeit with tighter controls to appeal to the modern age of sharp platforming games. The game is also proud to brag hundreds of Very Positive reviews on Steam – a real feather in this garlicky cap.
As far as story goes, and this is a real corker. Whilst the developers like to keep hush-hush regarding the finer details, all you need to know is that our hero Garlic is determined to meet (and seduce) the beautiful Goddess at the top of the Sacred Tower. Along the way, he must hop, skip and jump across a number of levels, each with tricky traps to navigate and enemies to defeat.
Crunchy Combat
Inspired by the fast-paced, dashing action of Super Meat Boy and Celeste, not only will dashing mid-air and off walls will play a large part of the platforming, but dashing into enemies will obliterate them from the screen. When in doubt, dash, dash, dash!
Aside from the usual action-platforming fare, there will also be some respites in the action. When you aren’t killing foes, avoiding spikes and dodging fireballs, you may find yourself dogfighting through the skies, and even fighting mega fish!
Garlic is Now Available
The latest in the platforming genre is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. To pick up a copy on Xbox, look no further than the Xbox Store – just pay £14.99. Keep an eye out for our full review of the game, coming soon.
