You may well have heard of Bow to Blood, after all, it released on PSVR back in August 2018, receiving rave reviews in the process. Well, now it’s time to ditch the VR headset as we see Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing preparing to bring rousing airship combat and diplomacy to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4… this April!
Coming from the team at Tribetoy – a group dedicated to creating unique interactive experiences – Bow to Blood tasks players with captaining an airship in a multi-stage reality TV show. And whilst the original game was well received – a current score of 80 on MetaCritic shouldn’t be ignored – the arrival of an enhanced edition of this, Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing, is more than welcome.
Bow to Blood: Last Captain will be hitting Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC in April 2019, delivering a procedurally generated adventure that sees us thrust into a single-player action-strategy roguelike in which you’ll oversee a flying airship in a multi-stage competition being broadcast as a deadly reality TV show.
In order to succeed, you’ll have to keep your wits about you, struggling to manage your ragtag crew to keep your vessel afloat, fending off incoming attackers in the process. Gathering up resources, and searching for treasure, are also par for the course, whilst forging temporary alliances is the name of the game, seeing you given the chance to team up with NPCs to conspire against the most dominant threats. You should however be aware that there’s little honor among sky pirates and only one captain will be crowned victorious. Will that be you?
Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing will be fully updated over the original VR version, with this new edition offering a slew of new content. This drastically enhances the game with an all new Hard Difficulty setting, more enemy ships, and an improved art design, making airship destruction more eye popping than ever.
And whilst that may initially sound a bit off to those who jumped in with the VR version of the game, all those with a copy of the PSVR game will receive all the new content, along with the option to play outside of VR, for free. PC players will also find the Last Captain Standing release will offer Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support for the full immersive experience.
But that’s not all and Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing also features something that was quite obviously inspired by Ready Player One – a community event wherein the first player to uncover a secret treasure will be immortalised forever in the game.
“Bow to Blood is truly unlike anything out there, with its mix of naval combat, airship management, and diplomacy,” said Tribetoy Co-Founder and Director of Design, Matthew Hoesterey. “We’re thrilled that a whole new audience will get to discover it in this multiplatform release this April.”
