We’ve just seen Forza Horizon 4 get treated to a little expansion with the Hot Wheels Legends, but now it’s time for the real thing to hit as Mattel and Milestone announce Hot Wheels Unleashed!

Coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 30th 2021, Hot Wheels Unleashed is a brand new, action packed arcade styled racer, one that will not just appeal to the petrolheads looking for a new racer, but to all those who have grown up loving the Hot Wheels brand.

Giving players the opportunity to drive the cars as if they were die-cast toys, Hot Wheels Unleashed promises adrenaline-filled races, a huge range of Hot Wheels vehicles – obviously – all of which come with different attributes and rarity levels, and the chance to customise those machines as you see fit. Also included will be some crazy tracks set in every-day life locales, with interactive elements included. Throw in a Track Editor – yeah, we need a track editor – and it promises to cover a whole ton of bases.

If you’re looking to drift, boost, jump and crash your way through a Hot Wheels life, enjoying those iconic orange tracks, then you’ll be able to do so across single player game modes, alongside online and offline (split-screen goodness) multiplayer races.

“We continue to focus on engaging consumers with our brands through gaming platforms,” said Andrew Chan, Head of Digital Gaming, Mattel. “Hot Wheels is all about encouraging the challenger spirit and Hot Wheels Unleashed brings that mission to life for gamers of all ages. Milestone’s expertise in racing game development has enabled us to transform the Hot Wheels brand into a compelling console and PC gaming experience for both current Hot Wheels fans and gamers who may be rediscovering the iconic brand.”

“Like many other team members who worked on the game, I’ve been playing with Hot Wheels since I was a child, and today I’m still a hungry Hot Wheels fan and collector,” said Michele Caletti, Executive Producer, Milestone. “This is the reason why we’re all so committed in delivering the purest and most authentic Hot Wheels gameplay experience ever in a videogame. We owe it to the Hot Wheels community and to our inner children.”

Excited much? We’ll be sure to continue to bring you all the Hot Wheels goodies as and when we have it. But stick that September 30th 2021 date in your diary for that is when Hot Wheels Unleashed will be hitting the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC starting grids.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
