Vampire Survivors has a lot to answer for. But can Mighty Mage take the genre crown?
We’re pretty certain that Vampire Survivors wasn’t the first arena-based roguelite survival game. But it’s certainly the one that breathed new life into the genre, proving that simple visuals could work as long as the gameplay was addictive. A game that has seen a host of clones arrive, attempting to take the genre crown, it’s probably the success of Vampire Survivors which has allowed for the release of Mighty Mage on Xbox.Â
Can the Mighty Mage rule?
Available right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised), the question is a simple one. Are you ready to become a Mighty Mage?
The latest arena survival affair to hit the Xbox Store, Mighty Mage looks to take you on a journey into the unknown, as you become ever powerful with every run. Lasting through a limit of twenty waves of foes is your ultimate goal, but only by taking in Mighty Mage over and over again will you ever find the skills – and the power – needed for success.
As you may suspect from a game with ‘Mage’ in the title, it’s the spells that come to the fore here. And Mighty Mage certainly focuses on those elements, with four in place from the get-go. From there you’ll be found picking up plenty of upgrades, utilising those to create your own unique build. Only then will you find out whether you have what it takes to become that Mighty Mage.Â
Become the Mighty Mage on Xbox
Sitting pretty on the Xbox Store this very minute for a mere £4.19 (discounted if you are quick), Mighty Mage from Desert Water Games may well be worth a shot.Â
We’ll let you know in full review whether Mighty Mage on Xbox is worthy of a play. And whether it deserves a place alongside Vampire Survivors. In the meantime, get into the comments and let us know your thoughts.Â
