Super Onion Boy 2 Xbox

If the medium of videogames has got one thing right, it’s that sequels are usually better than the originals. There are exceptions, but this is definitely something that games do that movies struggle with. So, while we may have missed the original Super Onion Boy here on Xbox, we at least have the sequel. And here it is: Super Onion Boy 2 releases today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

This retro looking 2D platformer will see the titular Super Onion Boy on a quest to save his friends. Unfortunately for them, they were kidnapped by a monster with powerful psychic magic.

Armed with a variety of epic transformation, Super Onion Boy must travel through several worlds to reach his friends. He can transform into a wizard that can fire magic bullets or a ninja that can double jump. Along with power-ups he can collect on the way, he should have no trouble taking down the enemies in his path.

Failing that, the trusty old stomp on an enemy’s head will still work in Super Onion Boy 2. Also included are:

  • Action and adventure game
  • Epic boss fights
  • Magic potions with superpowers
  • 8-bit chiptune style music

Super Onion Boy 2 is the latest Ratalaika Games offering on Xbox. By now, I shouldn’t need to tell you what that involves. But if you like easy Gamerscore, you will definitely be wanting to pick this up.

Super Onion Boy 2 is on the Xbox Store now, priced at £4.99. If you pick it up quickly, there is a discount on the game, dropping it to £3.99. We will have a review coming soon too.

Don’t get this confused with Super Meat Boy, Super Onion Boy 2 isn’t a vegetarian version of that game. Though I wonder what they would taste like in a sandwich together? Let us know in the comments what you think.
