Caterpillar Xbox

Not one to force another shared universe down everyone’s throat, but are developers grin robot creating one? They already have Butterfly and Butterfly 2 to their name. Is Caterpillar then a prequel? Find out today at Caterpillar launches on Xbox and Windows PC.

As little, cute Caterpillar, you need to navigate around these 2D platforming levels. There are forty in total, and you will need to eat up the flowers along the way before you can progress to the next one. This is a platformer with a difference though: Caterpillar cannot jump.

Instead, they can crawl up walls and bounce off certain obstacles. But in terms of actually jumping, this is not your traditional platformer.

Other platformer staples are here though in the form of enemies. And what is a caterpillar’s greatest adversary? That’s right, bees! The same bees that have appeared in the Butterfly and Synchro Hedgehogs games that look more like wasps anyways. Caterpillar must land on top of them to kill them, and in the process get a boost off them.

Our Caterpillar review is now live so you can read our thoughts on this cheap game. Whether it is a diamond in the rough or yet more achievement fodder can only be answered by reading the review.

Did your ears prick up at the sound of the word ‘cheap’? Well, Caterpillar is on the Xbox Store now priced at £4.19, or £3.35 if you pick it up quickly. Or, if you prefer to play on your PC, the Windows version of Caterpillar can be found here for the same price. Let us know in the comments below if you will be picking this one up.

Game description

Caterpillar is a 2d puzzle platformer. You control the caterpillar whose goal is to collect all flowers and move to the next level. Caterpillar cannot jump itself, only move and climb to the vertical walls. It is a casual game that immerses you in an atmosphere of safety and meditativeness. Can you help the Caterpillar to become a Butterfly?
