Cute and colourful Varenje releases on Xbox One with Play Anywhere support

Are video games art? It’s a question we’ve seen asked multiple times over the years, and everyone will have their own personal opinion. In the case of Varenje on Xbox One though, there’s little argument against it. Art it certainly is.

Thankfully it’s also a game and the development team at Play Cute along with their publishers at JoyBits look to have nailed the visuals perfectly with the release of Varenje. Available to purchase and download right now, Varenje is a game that deals with the cute and colourful as you are taken on an adventure through a variety of puzzles and minigames that have been created with one thing in mind – the art!

Should you be temped into a purchase of Varenje for the low asking price of £8.39 (discounted at launch to £7.55 too), then you’ll find 8 gorgeously hand crafted puzzles ahead of you, providing multiple hours of gameplay as you become immersed into the enchanting world Vareje is trying to push home.

We all know that visuals don’t necessarily make a great game, but they sure as hell help and should the gameplay side of things in Varenje provide even half the draw of the graphical style, Play Cute could well be on to a massive winner.

Only a full review and time with Varenje on Xbox One will provide the answers though so make sure you keep an eye out for our thoughts as time moves forward. For now though, you could do a ton worse than head to the Xbox Store and nab yourself a copy of this gorgeous looking puzzler. Particularly seeing as Xbox Play Anywhere support will allow the chance to play it on PC too.

Game Description:

“All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Get yourself a little summer’s day with a raspberry jam adventure! Varenje is a cute colorful adventure with a number of puzzles and mini-games made by artists for anyone that considers games to be an art. Eight unique & gorgeously hand crafted chapters await you. Hours and hours of game play will take you to a far away enchanting place. Our hero was spending summer happily at the cosy cottage until curiosity forced him to sample an unknown berry at the stream. Before he knew it, everything had become incredibly large, and he was reduced to the size of a bug! Trying to understand what happened and how to return things back to normal, we set off into the invisible to the human eye tiny world, where worms, beetles and spiders live their life, and build bizarre vehicles, in disguise so that humans do not realize. Our new friends will surely help us by discovering the secret healing potion, which will return us to our previous dimensions. All we need is to collect enough raspberries to cook grandmother’s jam. And as we all know – this is a remedy for all ills!
