DOOM to receive free content, Deathmatch, Private matches and more

2026's Best Games

Bethesda have today announced that the rather awesome DOOM will soon be getting treated to some lovely free content.

Whilst the base game has been in place for a little while already – you’ll want to check out our review if you haven’t already – a new content update will drop the likes of Deathmatch, private matches and an arcade mode for free.

Deathmatch will bring some free-for-all mayhem to the already super fast multiplayer that makes up DOOM, whilst Private Matches do exactly as you would expect. Both will be part of the Free Update 3 that drops this month, whilst the Arcade Mode, something which brings a competitive edge to the acclaimed campaign mode, will arrive later this year.

If you’re interested, then you can get a first look by checking out a special livestream reveal with id Software’s Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin on Tuesday, September 13th at 7pm BST on twitch.tv/xbox.

Don’t miss it…and don’t miss the content when it drops! We will of course remind you when that time comes.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
