New additions come to Game Pass

We’ve known for a while that today would be a great day for Game Pass subscribers, with Diablo IV finally coming to the subscription service. But that is just 1 of 3 new additions to Game Pass today. Which of the newest adventures will you be taking in?

March 2024 has been a decent little month for new Game Pass games, with a host of titles joining the subscription service on Xbox and PC. But perhaps none of the days gone by have managed to reach the levels of today, as Diablo IV, Open Roads and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 all land on Game Pass.

Diablo IV

Diablo IV released on Xbox, PlayStation and PC back in mid-2023 to much acclaim. In fact, we loved it so much that we gave it a 4.5/5 in review, picking up on the brilliant visuals, the superb story and the interesting strategic calls. The only real downside? Well, there just weren’t enough hours in the day to let us play.

A game that just must be played, full of depth as it goes, if you’re looking for something to keepo you going for the next few weeks and months, Diablo IV should be downloaded from the Xbox Store asap.

“With all things considered, Diablo IV is a blinder. The story, the visuals (without the glitchy bits, obviously) and the sheer freedom to go and do whatever you want, whenever you fancy it, all add up to make a game that is an essential play. Solo, with friends or even against them, Diablo IV demands to be played.”

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged

We can’t say we were quite so taken with Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged. A 3.5/5 review score means this is by no means a bad game, but whilst it took what was delivered in the original game and ran with it, there was no huge overhaul.

Should you be a fan of the Hot Wheels brand then we’d suspect this will be right up your alley, but don’t expect too much in terms of a story. But hey, does Hot Wheels need a story?

It all leaves Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged to be seen as a decent alternative to its predecessor. If you want to blast around with your favourite Hot Wheels vehicles, this is as good as you’re going to get. But if it’s a massive racing overhaul you were expecting, you’ll be left disappointed. More of the same will have to do you.

Again, an Xbox Store download will sort you out with a bit of racing fun.

Open Roads

We’ve been looking forward to Open Roads, the mother-daughter road trip adventure from developer Open Roads Team, starring Kaitlyn Dever and Keri Russell, for a little while already. And whilst this one was slated for a February 2024 launch, things slipped a little.

Today though is the day, as you get the chance to take in what Annapurna Interactive and the Open Roads team have created. it has you playing as 16-year old Tess Devine as she looks to take in a road trip with her mother. Pushed along by a narrative that gets mysterious and dark, if previous Annapurna storytelling is anything to go by, this is one you’ll not want to miss.

Open Roads releases as a Game Pass Day One debutant today on Xbox and PC. You’ll also find it on PlayStation. Stay tuned for our review.

What’s next for Game Pass?

There’s more to come for Game Pass subscribers on Xbox and PC. Granted, we’re losing a few on March 31st as the original Hot Wheels Unleashed, Infinite Guitars and MLB The Show 23 make way, but further additions are promised.

On April 1st, Ark: Survival Ascended arrives for play, with F1 23 and Superhot: Mind Control Delete (we forgot that game existed!) drop in on April 2nd. The brilliant stop-motion underwater adventures of Harold Halibut hit mid-month too.

From there, who knows what will happen, but you can be sure your monthly Game Pass subscription will keep you busy for the weeks and months ahead.

Of course, for now it’s all about Diablo IV. or will you be playing Open Roads instead? The comments are below.
