We’ve known for a while that we’d soon be given the chance to build a motorsport legacy with F1 Manager 2022 on PC and console, but today Frontier Developments have dropped even more details in regards how their F1 management sim will play out. Oh, and they’ve confirmed the full release date and dropped a gameplay trailer too.

Racing to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC on August 30th 2022 (or earlier if you grab a pre-order), F1 Manager 2022 will let you drive every decision by stepping into the role of Team Principal, one of the highest-pressure roles in motorsport, as you look to lead your chosen team to glory throughout the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship and beyond.

Dipping into the more detailed side of things than EA Sports F1 22, F1 Manager 2022 is available to pre-order from today. Do so and you’ll be playing come August 25th, some five days ahead of street release, as well as getting some 10% off the asking price too. If you need selling (and we don’t!), then make sure you take in the first look at actual in-game footage from F1 Manager 2022 through Frontier’s gameplay trailer.

It goes without saying that when it does arrive, F1 Manager 2022 promises to offer fans an unrivalled F1 experience. It should do well in capturing – in unprecedented detail – the world of F1 and the high-octane excitement of running a team. Taking you from the paddock to the podium, you’ll be tasked with managing decisions both on and off the track to ensure your team has success, all while balancing the books and satisfying both the board and the all-important team sponsors.

As we’ve learnt from watching F1 over the years, the team headquarters are the beating heart of any constructor, and in F1 Manager 2022 it’s no different. Aspiring Team Principals will control every aspect of their team from their state-of-the-art HQ, from the scouting and investing in best-in-class staff, such as Race Engineers and the Head of Aerodynamics, to developing and assessing new car components. You will need to keep your finger on the pulse to ensure they stay ahead of the competition, both now, and for future seasons to come.

F1 Manager 2022 will come with a full roster of world-class drivers from across F1, F2 and F3, and between seasons players will have the option to enlist new drivers and assemble their dream team from an authentic pool of current and future stars. It’ll all be realistically replicated, as each driver from the 2022 F1 line-up has been digitally captured to accurately reflect them and their driving style when out on the track. It’ll be the skill, temperament and athleticism of a driver which is essential to any race team, with these reflected by key performance ratings, providing players with vital information on how to effectively manage their drivers during a race. Just like the real world of racing, over time drivers will retire from the sport, so it’s crucial players think ahead to ensure they’ve got a steady stream of upcoming talent in development if they want to secure their long-term motorsport legacy.

There’s tons to consider in F1 Manager 2022 and prior to each race weekend, Team Principals will select their allocation of tyres and spare parts, as well as optional objectives from sponsors to bolster their financial position. In practice sessions, drivers will build up their track and car familiarity, reporting feedback to guide car setup ahead of the all-important qualifying session, where it will be in the hands of the player to decide when to send out their cars and maximise their grid position.

Expect to find the races being shown in impressive broadcast-style visuals, with a variety of on-board and trackside camera angles bringing the action to life across all twenty two 2022 Grand Prix circuits. You’ll also be treated to the tones of David Croft, Lead F1 Commentator at Sky Sports, and Karun Chandhok, both of whom lend their iconic voices to the game. From lights out to the chequered flag, players can choose to control every decision on-track, from pit strategy to in-race driver commands, issuing authentic team-radio commands to their drivers and using real-time data to react to dynamic race events such as changing weather, safety cars and red flags, making those crucial calls that can take them to the top step or leave them at the back of the pack.

F1 Manager 2022 will launch on August 30th 2022, hitting the grid on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Remember, pre-order the game – suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99 – and you’ll get access some five days early. The Xbox Store is your best bet for that. The game will also be available in physical format for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for a suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
