FIFA 21 – Everything We Know So Far

-

Every year brings a brand new FIFA game from EA Sports. A new edition of this game has been released pretty much every year since 1993, and the franchise has already sold well over 260 million copies worldwide.

The core concept of the FIFA games is to give even the biggest couch-based gamer the chance to enjoy playing soccer. Such is the popularity of soccer that even previously soccer-phobic countries like Australia are getting on board. You can see many people playing soccer on the fields or watching matches on their TV or phone, as well as placing bets to back their favourite teams. All of this is possible considering that some AU bookies accept PayPal which offers them instant access to popular betting and streaming events.

All of this means that there will be legions of soccer fans who will be more than ready for the next instalment of the FIFA franchise. So what do we know about FIFA 21?

When will FIFA 21 come out and on which platforms?

Each year’s FIFA game tends to come out in the last two weeks of September. FIFA 20 was released on 27 September 2019, and there’s every reason to suggest that FIFA 21 will follow the same approach.

However, it’s worth noting that this will be just ahead of the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. These consoles are expected to be released before Christmas 2020, and it will give EA Sports an unusual headache about whether to make FIFA 21 backwards-compatible.

By being released on the new Xbox, FIFA 21 would benefit for a sorely needed visual upgrade, as well as longed-for improvements in terms of audio quality and loading speeds.

What will the new FIFA 21 feature?

FIFA 20 did an excellent job in resolving many of the issues that blighted previous incarnations of the soccer game. The in-game artificial intelligence managed to create a much more enjoyable way to play. However, many are convinced that PES 2020 offers a more authentic soccer experience on a console.

Many people have suggested that we’ll see more in the way of street games in FIFA 21. That would be an upgrade on the maligned Volta gaming option, and it would bring plenty of chaotic action to the gameplay.

Similarly, it was predicted that the career mode of FIFA 21 would get much more advanced. While the contract negotiation system of FIFA 20 was a nice touch, we’ll be hoping for more in the way of behind-the-scenes encounters in the new edition of this soccer simulator.

There are even those who are predicting that FIFA 21 will include the much-feared VAR technology. But whether this becomes a reality is something that EA Sports are very much keeping under wraps.

Who will be the FIFA 21 cover star?

Although many people prefer playing PES for its realism, there is little doubt that FIFA still dominates when it comes to licensing. We’re hoping that FIFA 21 continues this trend so that we might eventually get to play at Camp Nou on a FIFA game soon.

This raises the inevitable question of who will get to be the cover star of FIFA 21. Previous editions have featured modern-day legends like Eden Hazard, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The choice of the cover star has often been put to a public vote. If EA Sports decide to ask the public again, there’s a good chance that Tottenham Son Heung-Min could get the nod due to the massive amount of Korean gaming fans who could sway the vote. But with other stand-out stars like Mo Salah and Erling Braut Haaland in the equation, it could go any number of ways.
