Having first caught our attention with an intriguing broadcast back in July of last year, it’s all been a little too quiet about Artifex Mundi’s Irony Curtain since then, but fear not because a new propaganda trailer has just released for this satirical, communist-fuelled point-and-click adventure. Are you eager to see it?
Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love, to use its full title, is a comedic adventure set in a bizarre Eastern European country – ruled by a rather tyrannical, err I mean, beloved leader – during a fictional version of the Cold War. Your role is to take control of Evan, a bumbling journalist who ends up becoming a spy of sorts as he tries to unveil what’s actually going on behind the Irony Curtain. In order to do so, he must get to know the wonderfully quirky people of this ‘great nation’ as well as solve both linear and non-linear puzzles through 21 hand-painted locations.
The new broadcast focuses on a character, clearly inspired by a certain American President with an instantly recognisable hairstyle, and his fury at the original speech from the leader of Matryoshka. There’s going to be war and unfortunately poor Evan is going to be caught right in the middle of the conflict. Whilst the latest Irony Curtain propaganda trailer doesn’t offer any gameplay, it works well as a fun teaser to provide a taste of the humorous nature it’ll bring when it releases in Q2 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
