The Game Pass service gets two new games

It may have gone a little quiet in regards new additions to the Game Pass service, but today sees subscribers given access to a double dose of new games – neither of which have been in the subscription scheme before.

If you’re an Xbox player, whether that be on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One or PC, then you’ll need a Game Pass subscription in your life. Grabbing a monthly sub is a bit of a no-brainer, giving access to tons of games on an easy-to-handle basis, constantly updated to ensure freshness.

It’s the constantly revolving, constantly evolving scheme that is of most interest, especially as new games arrive for play.

That’s the case today as Game Pass subscribers get access to two new games, neither of which have been in the service previously. Those games are Bramble: The Mountain King and F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch.

F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch

We’ll start with F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch as this is a game that hits Xbox and Game Pass on Day One.

Releasing today, F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch from the bilibili and TiGames team focuses on Torch City, a place that is under threat by a robotic army. With war long gone, it’s left to Rayton – a rabbit – to go up against those pushing oppression. As you could imagine, that fight won’t be an easy one.

F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch works in an action platforming style, working combat, puzzles, platforming and more. Navigation of the world of Torch City will be a huge task, but thankfully Rayton comes equipped with a variety of weapons. These will be their only chance of finding success.

We’re looking to review F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch on Xbox real soon and will let you know how it goes. With access via Game Pass, there’s probably no reason to not give this one a go. Just be aware, F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch is not playable on Xbox One. You’ll need to be PC or Xbox Series X|S equipped.

Bramble: The Mountain King

Bramble arrived on Xbox as a paid title just a few weeks back, but it immediately gained acclaim. In fact, our full review of Bramble: The Mountain King on Xbox picked up a 4.5/5 score, as we spoke of the brilliant world creation, the gorgeous visuals and wonderful storytelling.

“If it wasn’t for a few little niggles in regards the need to reload and work through jump mechanics, Bramble: The Mountain King could well have been verging on top marks. Even then, this is a game that is hugely enjoyable, and the Nordic world feels like a great place to spend some solid hours. Just be aware, this can be a scary place and at times a bit gruesome, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

If you’ve not played Bramble previously, the arrival of the game in Game Pass should allow for immediate access.

How to play?

You can pick up and play the two new Game Pass additions right now. Bramble: The Mountain King is on the Xbox Store, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch also has a store page up and live – this one is only available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Let us know which you play first.

What other changes are coming to Game Pass?

Game Pass continues to march on and there are a few games planned for the service – as well as some being taken out.

June 29th sees the arrival of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town in Game Pass, whilst July 3rd welcomes the brilliant Arcade Paradise. From there, the only real confirmation is a July 5th drop of Sword and Fairy: Together Forever.

Those leaving are plentiful, as the end of June arrives. June 30th 2023 sees the removal of DJMax Respect V (Cloud, Console, and PC), Empire of Sin (Cloud, Console, and PC), Matchpoint – Tennis Championships (Cloud, Console, and PC), Olija (Cloud, Console, and PC), Omori (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Road 96 (Cloud, Console, and PC). If you’ve not played those by end of June, you’ll need to pay up for access.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
